News: Mission Accomplished Redux, Republicans Screw Troops Again, Bush/Hitler Comparison

Back In The Days of Mission Accomplished
We're in here because of Bush

Excerpt:
NEW YORK Monday marks the third anniversary of President Bush’s jet landing on the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and his speech declaring major fighting in Iraq over, all in front of a giant “Mission Accomplished” banner.
At the time, it was heralded by the mainstream media as a fitting moment of triumph. "He won the war," boomed MSNBC's Chris Matthews. "He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics."
Since then, it has become -- during three more years of death and war -- a symbol of American hubris and setbacks in Iraq. Today it is often lampooned as a tragic “photo op,”

Senate Republicans Screw Troops Yet Again

Excerpt:
Out of the litany of hypocrisy we have seen from Republicans in the last five years, perhaps the most galling is their contrived support-the-troops rhetoric, apparently designed to mask how they consistently screw over active military and Veterans at ever turn.

The latest smackdown came this week when Senate Republicans voted to take $1.9 billion from President Bush's funding request for the Iraq war and use that money to boost border security. S.Amdt. 3594, sponsored by Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) was intended to pay for new aircraft, patrol boats, and land vehicles and to bolster checkpoints and a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border crossing near San Diego. The problem and the bald-faced hypocrisy comes in Gregg's amendment, which passed 59-39, funding border security by grabbing money that would have provided body armor, tools to defeat improvised explosive devices for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and money for training the Iraqi security forces. This was an amazing stance for the GOP leadership, given their ongoing assertions that the war should be our highest national priority and their tendency to quickly jump any Democrat who they can even remotely claim doesn't "support the troops." "Isn't it interesting, when it comes down to these choices, so many on the Republican side of the aisle say: Now we are going to be fiscal conservatives, fiscal conservatives at the expense of our soldiers. It is plain wrong,"

Bush-Hitler Comparisons Part 1.

Excerpt:
"We had our Hitler, now you have yours."

What follows is a comparison between Hitler’s rise to dictatorial power in 1930’s Germany and the Bush administration’s rise to dictatorial power in America today, focusing on the role “religion” and “patriotism” played in both. It is based largely on the psychological study of Hitler commissioned by the United States government during WWII and undertaken by a team of people including psychologist Walter C. Langer in 1942-43. It was published in 1972 as a book titled "The Mind of Adolph Hitler" by Walter C. Langer.

56 clergy members charge pulpits used for 'electioneering'

Two complaints filed with the tax agency say that the large Columbus-area churches, active in President Bush's narrow Ohio win in 2004, violated their tax-exempt status by pushing the candidacy of J. Kenneth Blackwell, the secretary of state and favored candidate of Ohio's religious right.
The clergy members said the churches improperly held political activities and allowed Republican organizations to use their facilities.
The goal of the challenge is "for these churches to stop acting like electioneering organizations," said the Rev. Eric Williams, pastor of North Congregational United Church of Christ. "I don't want to harm or demonize these churches. I want these churches to act legally."

Damn it to hell!!! Thats a bunch of crap. Comparing Bush to Hitler is trash. I guess thats why 8 out of 10 wwII vets voted for Bush..Huhh H.l.??Any one with half a brain knows Hitler came to power by stiring class war fare. He promised to give the socialist workers better life styles and make the upper classes pay if they elected him. In addition to the atrocities he universalized everything and spread out the wealth. Does this sound familiar H.l.????My grandpa fought against this crap. Yall liberals give me the creeps sometimes.. Buck out...

I don't know about that 8 out of 10 number for WW2 vets that voted for Bush. If thats true, I know a lot of them would change their vote now. I met a few different WW2 vets, guys that were around 80 years old, at the anti-war demonstrations I have attended. They all talked about how when you've been in war, you look at it differently, and they beleive you should never go to war unless you absolutely have to. That was not the case in Iraq. Is Bush is bad as Hitler??? If he had his way, he would be. Maybe not throwing Jews in ovens, but Bush has stated that things would be much easier if we had a dictatorship, but only if he was the dictator.

HL said Bush said "easier." You misquoted him. But anyway, I found these for you:

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier." Describing what it's like to be governor of Texas.
(Governing Magazine 7/98)

-- From Paul Begala's "Is Our Children Learning?"

"I told all four that there are going to be some times where we don't agree with each other, but that's OK. If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator," Bush joked.

-- CNN.com, December 18, 2000

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it, " [Bush] said.

-- Business Week, July 30, 2001

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ...There is not enough scroll room for all of my HA HA HA words!!We all damn well know that H.l. wants people to take that literally. Thats what he was trying to tell me. Now, you know Bush dont really mean that. I guess you had a problem with Reagen jokeing about nuking the Russians. Now I have never seen those clips myself. Where does Bush jokeing about dictatorships being easier turn into something that he really wants for our nation?? Dictatorships are easier!!(FOR THE RULER)! Just ask Hugo Ceaser Chavez. He believes a dictatorship would be easier. He aint joking! Hes left-wing serious!! A joke....does not an instance make!!!Did some one mention Paul Begala??He looks like a failed joker try out for the Joker roll in the movie Bat Man..Hes pretty worthless and feels real lonely when he comes home to Texas..A robinhood in search of tights. Buck out..
