Will The Democrats Fight For Democracy?

by H.L.
So It appears as though Samuel Alito is on his way to being confirmed by the Senate, as the newest Supreme Court Justice, Wow, what a surprise. Our own California Senator (hopefully a soon to be ex-Senator) Dianne Feinstien has come out and said that a Filibuster is unlikely, when the Senate votes on Alito. Why The Democrats would not take on a Filibuster against this man is beyond me. So far only one Dem. Senator, who of course is one of the biggest DINO’s in congress (Democrat in name only) has said that he will vote for Alito, that is Senator Dino Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
Here is a Judge who was on a committee at Princeton whose goal it was to limit education opportunities for women. Alito claimed he did not remember if he belonged to the group or not which is absolute horse manure. Alito can recite case law, and the proceedings of trials he was involved in going back 20 years, but he can’t remember if he joined club in college. Alito has also fought to end abortion in The United States, which a significant percentage of the population is in favor of. Sam Alito is also going to come down in favor of big business over the people every time, which will complete the stranglehold that large corporations have over all of us, and will signal the final victory of Fascism over Democracy.
Now the question must be asked, why won’t the Democrats Filibuster? It takes 60 votes to end a Filibuster which means that Nelson aside, if the rest showed that they are real Democrats that are on the side of the middle class, and not the rich aristocracy, then the Republicans would have only 56 votes, and Alito’s nomination would be stalled and effectively ended. Republicans have threatened to use the Nuclear Option if the Dems. filibuster. Of course we all remember the deal that was made last time, which said that the Filibuster could only be used in extraordinary circumstances. If this isn’t an extraordinary circumstance, what is? Will the Republicans go through with the threat and end judicial Filibusters? With all the heat on them now, this would ratchet it up to a level that many Reps. would not be comfortable with given this is an election year. If the Nuclear Option is used Republicans could lose both houses of Congress, that is of course if Diebold does not throw the election to the Republicans again. Democrats refuse to even mention the stolen elections, and if they allow Alito to be confirmed then the only reason must be that the Democrats and Republicans are actually working together to turn The U.S. into a Fascist Dictatorship. So far it has been working out quite well.
