Republican Congressman Pleads Guilty To Taking Bribe

Excerpt:
SAN DIEGO - Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy and tax charges and promptly resigned his seat in Congress.
Cunningham, 63, admitted to taking $2.4 million in bribes in a case that grew from an investigation into the sale of his home to a wide-ranging conspiracy involving payments in cash, vacations and antiques. He entered pleas in U.S. District Court to charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud and wire fraud, and tax evasion for underreporting his income in 2004.

H.L.s Take:
Another day, another Republican caught making himself rich at the expense of the people he swore to serve. This Cunningham guy, who is a Vietnam vet, took money from a defense firm in return for contracts to build more bombs, and weapons that would be used for the illegal war in Iraq, so that more of our soldiers could be killed. For Shame Duke, for shame.

2nd Time Magazine Reporter to Testify in Leak Case

Excerpt:
WASHINGTON - A second Time magazine reporter has agreed to cooperate in the CIA leak case and will testify about her discussions with Karl Rove's attorney, a sign that prosecutors are still exploring charges against the White House aide...
Rove has remained under investigation for his involvement in leaking the identity of Plame, whose husband, former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson, is a critic of the Bush administration

H.L.s Take:
Is Fitzgerald set to indict Karl Rove, or is he stalling long enough to help the Republicans keep control of congress in next years elections? The process grinds ever so slowly.

Ohio's Diebold Debacle: New machines call election results into question

Excerpt:
Massive Election Day irregularities are emerging in reports from all over Ohio after the introduction of Diebold's electronic voting in nearly half of the Buckeye State’s counties. A recently released report by the non-partisan General Accountability Office warned of such problems with electronic voting machines.

H.L.s Take:
Until the Democrats start addressing the fact that Bush stole both of his elections, and what can be done to make sure it nothing else matters. The Democrats will lose every important election until the end of time. (Yes that includes you Hilary)

Timing Entwined War Vote, Election.

Excerpt:
Daschle, who as Senate majority leader controlled the chamber's schedule, recalled recently that he asked Bush to delay the vote until after the impending midterm election.
"I asked directly if we could delay this so we could depoliticize it. I said: 'Mr. President, I know this is urgent, but why the rush? Why do we have to do this now?' He looked at Cheney and he looked at me, and there was a half-smile on his face. And he said: 'We just have to do this now.' "

Scandal could take in at least a dozen in Congress

Excerpt:
It's been two years now since federal investigators began trying to untangle the dealings of Washington uberlobbyist Jack Abramoff. But what was once a potential scandal looming over the horizon is now looking more ominous by the day.
Last week's guilty plea by Abramoff's onetime partner, a former top aide to the beleaguered Rep. Tom DeLay, darkened the skies further. Michael Scanlon's admission he had conspired to bribe public officials and defrauded four Indian gaming casinos of millions in fees effectively makes him the government's star witness in a probe that threatens to ensnare officials throughout the nation's capital.

H.Ls Take:
Heres my list of the dirty dozen that need to be takin in
12. Michael Scanlon
11. Jack Abrahmoff
10. Scooter Libby
9. Jeb Bush
8. Tom Delay
7. Scott McClellan
6. Condi Rice
5. Dennis Hastert
4. Donald Rumsfeld
3. Karl Rove
2. Dick Cheney
and the #1 member of the dirty dozen. George W. Bush

Raw Story
Testimony from Rove's former assistant may solidify case that he misled leak inquiry, lawyers say

Excerpt:
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will present evidence to a second grand jury this week in his two year-old investigation into the outing of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson that could lead to a criminal indictment being handed up against Karl Rove, President Bush’s deputy chief of staff, attorneys close to the investigation say.

Rove has remained under intense scrutiny because of inconsistencies in his testimony to investigators and the grand jury.

Is Defeat Now an Option? by Patrick J. Buchanan

Excerpt:
By Thursday, the Pentagon confirmed that troops would be coming home after the December elections and, if conditions improve, U.S. forces could be drawn down by 60,000 before the end of 2006. Said Fred Barnes of the hawkish Weekly Standard, "These events are ominous … they suggest that troop removal has superseded victory as the primary American concern." Indeed, they do.

A News Revolution Has Begun

Excerpt: The Indian writer Vandana Shiva has called for an "insurrection of subjugated knowledge". The insurrection is well under way. In trying to make sense of a dangerous world, millions of people are turning away from the traditional sources of news and information and to the world wide web, convinced that mainstream journalism is the voice of rampant power. The great scandal of Iraq has accelerated this. In the United States, several senior broadcasters have confessed that had they challenged and exposed the lies told about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, instead of amplifying and justifying them, the invasion might not have happened.

Hollywood, Iraq and 9/11: Reinforcing the Party Line

Excerpt:
Moviegoers in the upcoming months will be bombarded by films about the Iraq war and 9/11. These movies will uniformly reinforce the official party line that 9/11 was carried out by 19 Arabs with box cutters and that the invasion of Iraq was a heroic act of liberation in the defense of America.

As an ambitious college student, Cassie Napier had all the right moves - flips, tumbles, an ever-flashing America's sweetheart smile - to prepare for her job after graduation. She became a drug saleswoman.
Penny Otwell, a former cheerleader, is a drug sales representative.
Ms. Napier, 26, was a star cheerleader on the national-champion University of Kentucky squad, which has been a springboard for many careers in pharmaceutical sales. She now plies doctors' offices selling the antacid Prevacid for TAP Pharmaceutical Products

H.L.s Take:
Gimme a P, Gimme an R, Gimme an O, Gimme a Z, Gimme an A, Gimme a C, Whats that spell?...
