Rove Says Troops Will Remain In Iraq

Excerpt:
He says he came to Ohio to thank volunteers and local politicians who helped put Bush back in the White House two years ago.
Ohio will be crucial again to Republicans in the 2008 presidential election.
No Republican has won the presidency without carrying the state.
Rove says a key issue in this year's midterm elections will be campaigning against Democrats who voted against the Patriot Act.

H.L.s Take:
You gotta hand it to old Karl, no matter how many people are against him, and no matter how many people are against his boy Bush, Rove never lets on that he is on a sinking ship. Go ahead Karl, campaign against the Democrats that were against the Patriot act being renewed, since we are now in the mainstream and you are out. Rove is virtually admitting that they stole ohio in 2004, and want to steal it again with the help of Ohioans who are responsible for this debacle in the first place because they could not run a clean election.

Washington Post
Soldiers get Bonuses for Bringing in New Recruits

Excerpt: "The Army National Guard, which has suffered a severe three-year recruiting slump, has begun to reel in soldiers in record numbers, aided in part by a new initiative that pays Guard members $2,000 for each person they enlist."

H.L.s Take:
So what happens is dummy number 1 signs up with Bush's bloodbath in Iraq, either to have an income, or to get out of dummyville. He goes over there barely survives and finally after 4 tours gets shipped home. They tell him he gets 2G's if he can get other dummies to sign up. Dummy number 1 knows how bad things are over there, but he's got his eye on this 1986 IROQ -Z Camaro that his neighbor has had up on blocks on the front lawn since 1998, so he tells the other dummies in dummyville about how cool it is to kill ragheads in Iraq, they sign up, and The Army gets to new meat coming in.

Alternet
Woman fired for Air America bumper-sticker Sues.

Excerpt: In her Feb. 21 claim, Laroca asserts that on Oct. 8, three weeks after she started working for the marketing company, Fath called her on a Saturday and requested they meet at a nearby grocery store parking lot so Laroca could pass on some documents Fath needed.
During the brief encounter, Laroca charges, the manager pointed to the bumper sticker ---- the only one on Laroca's car ---- and remarked that it was a new sticker and called it "that Al Franken left-wing radical radio station."
Laroca alleges in her suit that Fath then told her, "The country is on a high state of alert. For all I know, you could be al-Qaida."
A stunned Laroca laughed nervously at the statement, the suit alleges, and then was dealt "the final blow" when Fath fired her on the spot.

H.L.s Take:
What the hell is going on in San Diego, what a bunch of yahoos down there, only 120 miles, and a world away from Hollywood. Because you have an Air America radio sticker on your car you might be Al Qaida??? In Hollywood all that means is that you like listening to waaay to many commercials.

Crooks and Liars

Heres a TV clip of Bill Frist explaining why he won't go along with Feingold in censuring his boss Bush. Very funny stuff, from the cat killer.

Bela Ciao
10-year-old boy prisoner of Guantanamo Bay -- found innocent after two years of detainment

H.L.s Take:
We’ve still got more than 600 people imprisoned in our Halliburton-built prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where for more than two years we’ve been interrogating them, denying them lawyers, denying them any kind of judicial review, hinting quite bluntly that they could all remain in limbo like this forever, and trying to put a brave face on all of the suicide attempts.

Excerpt: They were counterproductive," said Stuart, a lawyer who has closely followed the proceedings. "What we do know is that this is the cause of death and you can't say that it was really a case of natural death."
Stuart said the tribunal only learned of the presence of the drug in his blood last week, on March 7.
"It's naturally a riddle," she said.

A Studio Boss and a Private Eye Star in a Bitter Hollywood Tale

Excerpt: The guy in question is Anthony Pellicano, the celebrity private detective who is at the center of a mushrooming federal investigation that has consumed Hollywood for months, and who was indicted on wiretapping and conspiracy charges last month. And her recollection suggests that Mr. Grey, now the chairman of Paramount Pictures, had dealings with Mr. Pellicano as early as 1996 — at least three years earlier than has so far been detailed publicly.
