Condi Rice Plays The Cocaine Guitar In Chile

News Item:Morales gives Rice coca leaf-inlay guitar
Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice was in Chile today where she met with Bolivian President Evo Morales, at the end of the meeting, Morales presented Condi with a Guitar (actually its a "charango" and the body is from the shell of an armadillo, as reader Charles Padilla of Ft. Lauderdale wrote in to explain) with a Coca Inlay. We don't know if Condi will be able to bring the Cocaine Guitar home, but rumour has it she stappped it on, and fired it up. Heres the pics.

News: Record U.S. Deficit, Bush Polls All Time Low, Milosevic Murdered, 4 Soldiers Killed

AP
U.S. Current Account Deficit Hits Record

Excerpt:
WASHINGTON - America's deficit in the broadest measure of international trade surged to an all-time high of $804.9 billion last year as the country went deeper into debt to foreigners.
The Commerce Department said the deficit in the current account was up 20.4 percent from the previous record of $668.1 billion set in 2004. The current account is the best measure of trade because it tracks not only goods and services but also investment flows between countries

H.L.s Take:
For the Past 5 years Bush has been giving Tax cuts to the rich, spending Billions on War, running the deficit up to 8 Trillion, and operating in the red the whole time. How is he doing it? by borrowing money from China. He is selling out the U.S. to the Chinese, and when they call in the loans, the U.S. will be owned lock, stock, and barrel by China. Bush, Rummy, and Condi, will be holed up in their gated mansions, while the rest of us will have to start brushing up on our Mandaran Chinese dialects.

U.S., Google Set to Face Off in Court

Excerpt:
SAN FRANCISCO - The Bush administration will renew its effort to find out what people have been looking for on Google Inc.'s Internet-leading search engine, continuing a legal showdown over how much of the Web's vast databases should be shared with the government.

H.L.s Take:
Bush wants to be able to find out what all of us are looking at on the internet, just because it gives him even more power then he already has. Of course he has to use the whole children/safety issue. Every time more of our constitutional rights are taken away, its always in the name of safety, and protecting the children. Hey nothing is guaranteed in life, we have to take our chances, Live free or Die, and as for children, its up to parents to stop them from looking at bad things. And now for another interesting story about this subject.

The liberal baby bust .

Excerpt: What's the difference between Seattle and Salt Lake City? There are many differences, of course, but here's one you might not know. In Seattle, there are nearly 45% more dogs than children. In Salt Lake City, there are nearly 19% more kids than dogs.
This curious fact might at first seem trivial, but it reflects a much broader and little-noticed demographic trend that has deep implications for the future of global culture and politics. It's not that people in a progressive city such as Seattle are so much fonder of dogs than are people in a conservative city such as Salt Lake City. It's that progressives are so much less likely to have children

H.L.s Take:
Interesting article, but it never mentions why, I can think of a few reasons right off the top, but I would be interested in hearing what you think of this, leave a response in the comments section below, if you have any ideas.

Seems like I see this story every week now.

Milosevic's Son Says Father Was 'Killed'

Excerpt:
THE HAGUE, Netherlands Slobodan Milosevic's son alleged Tuesday that his father had been "killed," while a U.N. war crimes tribunal official said the court had been told that the late Serb leader had regular access to unprescribed medication and alcohol smuggled into his prison cell.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the tribunal's strict confidentiality rules, told The Associated Press that the unit's prison warden had told the court that he could no longer guarantee Milosevic's health.

Why Halliburton Should Run Our Ports

Excertp:
There are rumblings that Halliburton is being considered as the recipient of the DP World "transfer" of port operations to a US "entity". I know what you're thinking, who couldn't have seen this coming right? But perhaps Halliburton is the best possible answer to this security problem. All we have to do is take a look at their record and I'm sure all our fears will be put to rest. Just look at what they've managed to accomplish in Iraq!

Finding out what Uncle Sam has on you

Excerpt:
The U.S. Freedom of Information Act is approaching its 40th birthday. Given that March 12 begins national Sunshine Week–an effort to cast light onto the growing recesses of government secrecy–U.S. News is providing links so its readers can file requests for federal records under the FOIA and its sister statute, the Privacy Act. The process is surprisingly simple.

I Am a Liberal. There, I Said It!

Excerpt:
I am a liberal. And I make no apologies for it. Hell, I'm proud of it.
Too many people run away from the label. They whisper it like you'd whisper "I'm a Nazi." Like it's a dirty word. But turn away from saying "I'm a liberal" and it's like you're turning away from saying that blacks should be allowed to sit in the front of the bus, that women should be able to vote and get paid the same as a man, that McCarthy was wrong, that Vietnam was a mistake. And that Saddam Hussein had no ties to al-Qaeda and had nothing to do with 9/11.
This is an incredibly polarized time (wonder how that happened?).

4 American Soldiers Killed in Afghan Blast

Excerpt:
KABUL, Afghanistan, March 12 — Four American soldiers were killed in a roadside-bomb explosion in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, and two suicide bombers in a car blew themselves up next to the vehicle of the chairman of Afghanistan's upper house of Parliament here in the capital, killing at least two people and wounding at least seven others, officials said.
