BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Five U.S. Marines have been killed in western Iraq this weekend, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
H.L.s take
That Makes 17 Military Deaths just YESTERDAY in Iraq. Buy hey, Bush says we are winning. He is confident that we will obtain total victory. What a crock. Bush is a war criminal. As if you didn't know

Pentagon Study Links Fatalities to Body Armor
Excerpt:
A secret Pentagon study has found that as many as 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had had extra body armor. Such armor has been available since 2003, but until recently the Pentagon has largely declined to supply it to troops despite calls from the field for additional protection, according to military officials
H.L.s take
And the Army still hasn't upgraded the body armour. Remember when Rumsfeld, said
"You go to War with the Army you have, not what you want. We have spent 200 Billion on this travesty, but won't protect the soldiers who are over there. Bush and Rummy need to drink Magmums of Cristal everynight, on their yachts. So the soldiers will just have to make due I guess

Case Dropped Against U.S. Officer in Beating Deaths of Afghan Inmates
Excerpt:
The officer, Capt. Christopher M. Beiring, led a reservist military police company that was guarding the main American detention center in Afghanistan when the two men were killed within days of each other in December 2002. The prisoners died after guards kneed them repeatedly in the legs while each was shackled to the ceiling of his cell.
H.L.s take
No surprise here. The Army can kill civilians with impugnity, and never have to worry about getting in trouble. If any journalists photograhph the soldiers committing atrocities, they will be killed too. So no worrys I guess
