       Iraq, Elections, and GOP Adulterers

AP
Police find 9 severed heads in Iraq

Excerpt:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Police found nine severed heads in fruit boxes near a volatile city northeast of Baghdad on Tuesday, authorities said, the second such discovery in less than a week.
A roadside bomb also exploded near an American military convoy in central Baghdad, killing a woman and wounding three pedestrians, Lt. Thair Mahmoud said. The three-vehicle convoy was traveling near one of Baghdad's bus stations when the bomb detonated. The convoy kept moving.

H.L.s Take:Just another day in Bush's Iraq

Roadside bomb kills 2 soldiers in Afghanistan

Excerpt:
JALALABAD, Afghanistan (Reuters) - A roadside bomb killed two soldiers from the U.S.-led coalition forces in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, according to a U.S. military spokeswoman.... Some 400 people were killed last month alone, as the Taliban stepped up attacks in the south in an apparent attempt to weaken NATO governments' resolve as a U.S.-led coalition will hand control of the southern provinces to the alliance's peacekeeping force in July.

H.L.s Take:We've been in Afghanistan longer then we were in World War 2. Why is it taking so long? Could it be that Bush doesn't want the war to end becuase then he wouldn't rake in so much money in war profits for the family???

Stock prices drop sharply for 2nd day

Excerpt:
NEW YORK - Stocks fell sharply for the second straight session Tuesday, with the Dow Jones industrial average losing more than 100 points and falling below 11,000 for the first time since March. Global markets followed U.S. investors' lead in abandoning stocks as inflation fears worsened.

H.L.s Take: Yep that ole Economy will be turning the corner any day now. uh huh.

House Race Hotline Extra: Turnout In The CA 50 Runoff
Excerpt: Could Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to schedule the CA 50 runoff on the same day as the party primaries hurt ex-Rep. Brian Bilbray (R)? The GOP's registration advantage could be blunted by higher Dem turnout. Dems are holding competitive primaries for most statewide races, including the highly-contested gubernatorial primary. By contrast, the GOP's marquee matchup is for controller. A GOP campaign operative said the timing "definitely doesn't help our chances." The ballot could also confuse GOP voters

The Real Threat to Marriage: Top 10 GOP Adulterers

Excerpt:
1. President George H.W. Bush allegedly had an LTR with British-born Jennifer Fitzgerald that lasted at least two decades, all while married to Bar, who said, “He didn’t even notice when I stopped coloring my hair.”

2. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, famously married to Maria Shriver, is allegedly a serial groper, a purveyor of prostitutes and the father of at least one child out of wedlock.

3. Sen. John McCain, 2008 Republican presidential frontrunner, and admitted adulterer and alleged philanderer.

Democratic Daily
The Truth About Thomas Lipscomb: Conservative Propagandist, Destroyer of Veterans

Excerpt:
The Right-wing Blogosphere’s (and Lipscomb’s own) Wildly Exaggerated Claim that Lipscomb Was Nominated for a Pulitzer for his “Kerry” Reporting…
Thomas Lipscomb is an independent investigative reporter who was nominated for a Pulitzer for his reporting on Kerry during the 2004 elections. He is a senior fellow at the Annenberg Center for the Digital Future (USC).
Funny thing about that claim that Lipscomb was nominated for a Pulitzer — Pulitzer.org provides lists of all nominees and winners on their website - Lipscomb’s name is NO WHERE TO BE FOUND in 2004 or 2005.

Buzzflash
Cindy Sheehan: The Abominations of War: From My Lai to Haditha

Excerpt:
The massacre in Haditha on November, 19, 2005, is just another way to underscore the fact that our troops are being turned into war criminals in what one article called: "The Worst War Crime of the Iraq War." (Sydney Morning Herald; May 28 , 2006). In a stunning display of shameless hypocrisy George Bush said of the (not uncommon) butchering of innocent civilians in Haditha:
"Our troops have been trained on core values throughout their training, but obviously there was an incident that took place in Iraq,"
Bush also said this following a meeting of his cabinet: the world will see a "full and complete" investigation.
Another false piece of propaganda that we are fed is that we need to support the president, especially when we are "at war."

Yes and 30 severed heads and tourtures and gas used on civilians in Saddams Iraq.
I have talked directly with people in the military back from Iraq. The majority of Iraq's people are happy to be free and liberated from Saddam.

Too bad our media here in America does not focus on anything good the soldiers are doing.

Please HL stop saying Bushes Iraq you know good and well that congress voted to go.

So stop playing that card anyone with a memory remembers how it went down.

That's ALL the media focused on for the first year (or more) of this war! How many times did we all see that statue of Saddam being toppled or get "treated" to seeing Bush land in his jumpsuit and proclaim "mission accomplished"? The mainstream media is finally starting to wake up!

Yeah ok.....not even close. Bad stories get 95% of the press come on now man!

If you can't even admit that we can't have a rational conversation on the subject.

Remember Bill shot Monica in the face. And decided to not take custody of Bin Laden when Sudan offered him on a silver platter.

I dunno fellas; to be a successful GOP, you have to join the 'Skull and Bones' club, sell your soul (and first-born child) to the nearest half demon selling Avon Products, and leave your conscience in the trunk of an abandoned car. Hope the tree people's don't pelt ME with rotten dairy products when I make my run for public office in a couple of years!

Stop saying Bush's Iraq?? Congress voted to go because Bush pressured them into doing so at a time when going against Bush was political suicide. Especially for a Republicans, and despite the fact that 6 Million people protested going to war. Oh its Bush's war alright. He is the one who busted into Condi's office after 9/11 and said "F**k Saddam, were taking him out". No its Bush's war. He wanted it, and he got it. Now he owns it.

How did the republicans manage to corner the market on accusing others of being conspiracy theorists?! You all think the liberal media machine is conspiring to bring down your boy. It couldn't possibly be the fact that he is a complete disaster who has made some very serious mistakes! It MUST be the media's fault!! The SAME media that had no problem reporting on Paula Jones, Monica, Gennifer Flowers...Did they just take a break from the liberal media conspiracy for those stories?

And even if they "only" report the bad stories...does that mean that those bad things didn't happen? There sure are more than enough of them to report! Should we just ignore them because they weren't accompanied by a warm and fuzzy story showing a soldier with a halo over his head saving drowning puppies and children?

H.L., I can't decide whether or not yours is a parody site. I'm inclined to believe that it is, considering the surfeit of risible anti-Bush conspiracy theories.

Do you believe that our policymakers should make their decisions based on street demonstrations, or elections? 60 million Americans (the most ever, in U.s. history) voted for Bush in 2004. Should six million demonstrators in "the streets" trump them?

Let me give you a tip. Street demonstrations have genuine meaning in a dictatorship like the Ukraine or Lebanon (until very recently, in both cases), when there is no real election for the public to express themselves. In a democratic country, street demonstrations are an act of fascism, an attempt to overturn the will of the people through the mob-like actions of a "revolutionary vanguard" (as your Marxist friends might call it).

At 1:26 PM, LMZ90028 said...

Street demonstrations are attempts to overthrow the government??? WRONG! Try this instead: street demonstrations are rights guaranteed to all of us by the First Amendment of the Constitution. Tryanny of the majority is NOT the goal of our system of government. If that was the case, the south would still be full of segregated schools and women wouldn't be voting.

You want to see an overthrow of a democratically elected government, I can give you LOTS of examples, but an anti-war march is not one of them.

NO to the scroll up there!!! With running the risk of agreeing with H.L. and IMZ I would have to say your wrong. As stupid and dumb as their argument is they have that right. Now I personaly dont like them! But my granpa fought for their right to protest. Now how do we deal with that?! Vigorusly protest the protesters. Not their right to protest but their reasoning and their premisis behind their actions. Let them chum it up. It hurts their cause. Americans know that this makes America look vulnerable. Their protests are in NO way now or in the future gonna lead to America cutting back in the GLOBAL war on terror!!! This I guarantee......Buck out....
