Lieberman On The Ropes. Going Down For The Count???
Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on August 4th, 2006 9:02 am by HL
Looks like this could be the end of Crazy Joe Lieberman. Seems a Ned Lamont has opened up a double digit lead with only 5 days to go. Lieberman is getting desperate. He is trying to get his supporters to break up Lamont campaign gatherings republican style.
Lieberman Shifts Strategy
Talk Left
Excerpt
Lieberman said it bothers him that many voters say they “appreciate the work I’ve done and they respect my integrity” but plan to vote for Lamont anyway because of the war. He said he won’t change his mind on the war because he thinks “it would be disastrous mistake for America” to set a deadline for the troops to pull out. That would only encourage “a brutal enemy,” he said.
You can look at me. I’m not George Bush,” the senator said.
He said, too, that “I am about more than just Iraq.”
It’s not just the war, Joe.

Hail Mary Attempt #1: Lieberman’s New Thug Strategy
Excerpt
So I just tracked this down with several sources, and something really strange is going on. Lieberman’s campaign seems to arming his supporters with aggressive talking points in order to pick fights at Lamont events.
There were only four booths and six stools in the whole place, and they were basically all occupied. When Ned went in, all of the supporters ripped off their ‘civilian clothes’ and revealed their Lieberman T-Shirts.
A large man, around 50 years old or so, then started screaming at Ned, “Are you an Al Sharpton Democrat, or a Bill Clinton Democrat?” Ned was trying to answer, and the gentleman kept yelling. The Lamont press secretary tried to intervene, and meanwhile, the people behind the counter who owned the restaurant were horrified and embarrassed. Then Ned Lamont went up to the few people in regular clothes and introduced himself, even as the Lieberman supporters kept screaming. He also tried to introduce himself to the Lieberman staffers, but to no avail. The screaming continued, and it was so abrasive that he left, and the whole crowd followed him outside.
These kids poured out, and a half a dozen reporters were mostly outside. The large man kept yelling, and was joined by one particularly obnoxious Lieberman supporter who started yelling about national security and how Lamont would endanger the country. The messaging seemed rehearsed. The Lieberman supporters started getting aggressive, pushing some of the Lamont staffers. When confronted, the Lieberman staffers said that they are just doing what the bloggers did.
H.L.s Take:
So what does Lieberman do now? Run as an Independent. He will lose a lot of Rebpublican swing voters because he had Clinton campaign for him. Republicans like Joe, but they hate The best President this country has seen in our lifetimes more then the devil himselfl. Thats why Bill did it you know, Not to help the guy who stabbed Clinton in the back, but to bury him. Bill Clinton the political master.

Newsflash: Iraq MAY Become Civil War: Generals
Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on August 4th, 2006 9:00 am by HL
They are starting to admit that the Civil War we have been reporting here for the past couple of months MAY Acutally happen. In another couple of months will say “It is a definite possiblility.” Then in a year from now they will say “Its not beyond the realm of possibility” Meanwhile dozens to hundreds of people a day are dying in a war between two different factions of the same country. Kind of like what happened here in the U.S. between 1861-1865. Now what did we call that war again…hold on let me pull out my history book….Oh yeah, THE CIVIL WAR. How dumb of me to forget.
Top U.S. generals warn of Iraq civil war

Excerpt
WASHINGTON – Two top Pentagon commanders said Thursday that spiraling violence in Baghdad could propel Iraq into outright civil war, using a politically loaded term that the Bush administration has long avoided.
The generals said they believe a full-scale civil war is unlikely. Even so, their comments to Congress cast the war in more somber hues than the administration usually uses, and further dampened lawmakers’ hopes that troops would begin returning home in substantial numbers from the widely unpopular war in time for this fall’s elections.
“I believe that the sectarian violence is probably as bad as I have seen it, in Baghdad in particular, and that if not stopped it is possible that Iraq could move toward civil war,” Gen. John Abizaid, the top U.S. commander in the Middle East, told the Senate Armed Services Committee

It’s the Iraq War, stupid!
Chicago Tribune
Excerpt
It’s the Iraq War, stupid! That’s the take-away message to congressional candidates from a Gallup Poll released this morning. The largest percentage of surveyed voters–35 percent–said the most important issue to them would be where candidates stand on how the U.S. should proceed in Iraq.
The second-place issue was the amorphous “taking care of the concerns of people in your district.” This question is problemmatic since the Iraq War could be a “concern” of voters in a particular district. Also, there’s some overlap with another choice Gallup provided: “bringing jobs/federal money to your district.”
Illegal immigration came in fifth place
H.L.s Take
Most Politicians still haven’t figured this out. Maybe when Lieberman goes down they will start to get the message.

Imagine you are in a place that is hot, nasty, with bad food, bad water, and bad leadership. You were supposed to be home 6 months ago, but you may never get there. You might start to get a little crazy, which is what is happening in Iraq.

SAN DIEGO – An investigation into the death of an Iraqi civilian has led to assault charges against six Marines accused of injuring civilians in the village of Hamdania in April, officials said.
Three of the men are already being held on murder charges in the death of 52-year-old Hashim Ibrahim Awad, an Iraqi civilian. Military officials said Thursday the assaults were uncovered during an investigation into the slaying.
A seventh Marine, an officer, is expected to be charged next week in the assault case, said Lt. Col. Colby Vokey, the Marine Corps’ defense coordinator for the western United States.
H.L.s Take
Just one more way Bush ruins lives. These guys should not have been there in the first place, but they will probably do hard time because Bush put them in an impossible situation.
