BOULDER, Colo. (Reuters) – Colorado prosecutors won’t charge schoolteacher John Mark Karr with the murder of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey after tests showed his DNA does not match DNA found in her underwear, two local TV stations reported on Monday.
Denver’s KUSA and KCBS both cited unnamed sources close to the investigation in the reports, which came just hours before Karr, 41, was due for his first Colorado court appearance.
Amid skepticism over Karr’s claims to have been with the former Little Miss Colorado when she died, legal experts said that it would be difficult to bring the case to trial without a DNA match.
H.L.s Take
This story broke the day after a judge ordered Bush to stop the illegal spying on U.S. Citizens without warrants. It should have been a big story in the mainstream media. Bush slapped down by the courts. The 4th Amendment is still in effect. But suddenly out of nowhere some kook is being charged with murder in the most sensationalistic murder case in the last 10 years. There is just one problem though, all the evidence points to the fact that he didn’t do it. His family said they have Christmas pictures of him in another city when the murders took place. But does the media bother to check any of this out, hell no. They just (once again) run with the story knowing it is wrong. The whole thing was a Karl Rove plot to get Bush out of the papers for a few days. Karr must have taken Roves offer to get out of having to do time in Thailand for whatever he did over there. He also got to be a celebrity for a couple of weeks, so what the hell. And what is it about Colorado? There must be some republican D.A.s over there who want so bad to curry favor with GOP bigwigs and have their names in the paper that they are willing to make themselves look bad to do it. Another instance where Bush conveniently got out of the papers at a bad time was when the whole Kobe Bryant “rape” case took place. Everyone knew that it would never go to trial but the press was all over that so hard there was no time to talk about anything else.
I never bothered to mention this case on the blog because I knew the whole thing was a sham. I’m just surprised they didn’t take him to trial anyway, just to have another 6 months of press headlines.
