AIPAC Spending Big Money to Keep Their Puppet “Hillary” in The Race

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 27th, 2008 2:37 pm by HL

According to the mainstream media, Barack Obama is about to pull off the big upset and defeat Hillary Clinton. Obama is bringing in most of his money through small donations from everyday people like you and me. Hillary on the other hand is supported by the super rich corporate elite who are invested in keeping the status quo. And of course the one of the biggest donors of all are members of AIPAC. (The American Israeli Political Action Committee) Now I have heard that both Obama, and Clinton are taking money from AIPAC but apparently Ms. Clinton is taking a lot more. Hillary’s campaign is going broke and she has had to go back for even more money. Of course that means that if she wins she is going to owe them big time, and you know what that means. It means that the status quo will be preserved, more corporatism, and less for the people, it also means that Israel will be running our foreign policy. AIPAC is worried that Obama with his ability to raise money without them may not do like Bush has done, and Clinton will do, that is give them whatever they want. Consortium News Picks up the story

Right now, the front line for the Washington Establishment is Hillary Clinton’s struggling presidential campaign, which has been stunned by Obama’s political skills as well as his extraordinary ability to raise money over the Internet. Obama’s grassroots donations have negated Clinton’s prodigious fundraising advantage with big donors.

Powerful lobbies – from AIPAC to representatives of military and other industries – also are recognizing the value of keeping their dominance over campaign cash from getting diluted by Obama’s deep reservoir of small donors. It’s in their direct interest to dent Obama’s momentum and demoralize his rank-and-file supporters as soon as possible.

On Feb. 25, the New York Times’ new neocon columnist William Kristol attacked Obama’s patriotism by citing the Illinois senator decision to stop wearing an American flag lapel pin because, Obama said, he saw how George W. Bush was exploiting the flag to stampede the nation toward war with Iraq.

“You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin,” Obama said when asked about his lack of a flag pin in October 2007. “As we’re talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest.”

In a column entitled “It’s All About Him,” Kristol mocked this explanation as an example of both Obama’s dubious claim to patriotism and his pomposity.

“Leaving aside the claim that ‘speaking out on issues’ constitutes true patriotism,” Kristol wrote. “What’s striking is that Obama couldn’t resist a grandiose explanation. … Moral vanity prevailed. He wanted to explain that he was too good – too patriotic! – to wear a flag pin on his chest.”
One former Israeli official told me that the Israeli government feels it can work with Obama, Clinton or McCain, but that the Israeli lobby in the United States is adamantly opposed to Obama, preferring Clinton because “they own her.” The ex-official said the lobby has some concern, too, with McCain because of his independent streak.

Like other powerful lobbies, AIPAC is threatened by Obama’s ability to raise large sums of money from everyday Americans, thus reducing the need of Washington politicians to hold out their tin cups to AIPAC’s legendary network of wealthy donors.

HL’s Take
If this story is true, then it makes me like Obama a lot more. I don’t know how much money Obama is taking from AIPAC as opposed to Clinton, but it’s time this country stopped taking orders from Israel. We give them Billions of dollars a year in aid, and we are fighting their wars for them. Israel has a deep hatred for Muslims, that’s why we are still in Iraq, that’s why Bush is doing what he can to try to get us into war with Iran, which we would already be in if Israel had it’s way. Fortunately Bush screwed up so badly that he can’t get the support he needs to attack Iran.
I think the people in this country are starting to realize that they need someone to fight for them, and not the big corporations who want to keep things the way they are and even make them worse. I just hope Obama is not a wolf in sheeps clothes who will turn around and do all the same things that Hillary, or Bush would do.

Halliburton Employees Getting Away With Rape As Well As Murder

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 26th, 2008 2:11 pm by HL

Yesterday we brought you the story of Halliburton/KBR Employees being indicted for war profiteering, today comes the story of a Halliburton employee getting away with rape. Not only was he not arrested, he hasn’t even been fired. After Downing St.org has the story.

Barker has brought charges against Halliburton/KBR claiming that she was sexually assaulted, harassed, and falsely imprisoned while working at Camp Hope in Basra, Iraq. Barker is a military wife and mother of 3 who worked for Halliburton’s KBR subsidiary as an administrative assistant in Iraq while her husband served in the U.S. military. According to ABC News, Barker claims that State Department employee Ali Mokhtare attempted to rape her: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/Story?id=3998439

“Mokhtare denied that he had attempted to rape her, but admitted that he had gone too far with Tracy, and signed a statement to that effect, which ABC News has obtained. In the document, Mokhtare states he ‘admitted that he pulled her vest and shirt’ and that he asked Barker, ‘What do you have behind there?’ He also says that he ‘made a mistake and it was stupid,’ according to the document. Despite his admission, Mokhtare, a U.S. citizen, still works at the State Department today….

“Mokhtare was a diplomatic official in Basra who first came to Iraq as a Farsi translator interviewing detainees. The U.S. Diplomatic Security Service investigated the allegations against Mokhtare and presented the case to the Justice Department for prosecution, but ‘the case was declined for prosecution’ states the document. Furthermore, investigators requested that the State Department suspend Mokhtare’s security clearance, but according to a handwritten note at the bottom of the document, that request was denied.”

Following the incident, Barker says, Halliburton confined her to a living container where she was constantly watched, including when she used the bathroom. Food was brought to her as if she was a prisoner, and she was denied medical attention and any outside communications. Barker says she was forced several days later to wear the same clothing she’d worn the night of the assault (ordinary pants and a long-sleeved shirt) and paraded through a crowded dining area apparently to humiliate her. This was part of the official investigation, aimed at determining whether she was sexually provocative. At this point she was still be refused medical attention.

Eventually, Barker says, she was able to use a cellphone belonging to National Guardsman Kevin Rodgers. Barker’s husband, 1st Sergeant Galen Barker, says that his wife contacted him through Rodgers. He then tried unsuccessfully to get to Kuwait so that he could rescue his wife from Iraq. Barker continued to be held against her will by Halliburton, and the State Department continued to stall her release. She was eventually rescued by Dr. David Pakkal of the State Department who took her to Kuwait.

When she returned home, Barker spoke out about what she had been through and began pursuing justice through U.S. courts. She says she was the first victim to do so. Several months after returning home, in July of 2005, Barker started receiving phone calls from other Halliburton employees who also alleged sexual harassment and rape while in Iraq. Barker learned that a State Department investigator and a Halliburton employee had given her home phone number out to gang rape victims because they thought Barker could help them.

PHOTO: Stewart Hoffer

Barker says the State Department offered her $3,500 in cash to drop certain charges, but she refused.

Halliburton has requested private arbitration instead of facing a civil suit and claims that this is required by Barker’s employment contract. A judge ruled this month in favor of arbitration, arguing that sexual harassment, including assault, is a reality in today’s workplace. Barker’s attorney Stewart Hoffer is in the process of appealing this order.

Barker was invited to testify before Congress on December 19, 2007, by Congressman Bob Etheridge. Barker’s newborn twins were fighting for their lives, but Barker made the trip to Washington, only to be denied the opportunity to testify.

HL’s Take
Slowly the whole house of cards is coming down, Eventually all the players in this tradegy of a war will face the consequences. Except of course for Bush, and Cheney. They are obviously bulletproof as far as the media, and congress are concerned. Those two could be filmed cutting open live babies and ripping thier hearts out, and the media would still find a way to sugar coat it, and make it seem so grand and noble.

Michael O’McCarthy

Kucinich was progressive’s last best chance to hold the Democratic Party accountable for its collusion with Bush and the corporate tyrants who are finalizing their control over this nation and Globalizing the world. His effort failed and it matters not why. He ought now break from the party that betrayed him and belittled him and colluded in taking away his first amendment rights and support Nader!

His withdrawal left us without a candidate and with only our principles to guide us. Nader’s platform represents the only dissident challenge to the corporate clones of “change,” Obama and Clinton.

The kind of “change” Obama represents is corporate America’s newest “branding” of its “New Automobile”; its newest chain restaurant in town; a “new” way to keep your skin ageless, your hair vibrant; the fastest and easiest way to lose weight without dieting or exercising. This mixture of shoddy consumer goods and million dollar advertising gloss is the fodder for the worst kind of consumerism.

“If it’s new, its better,” is the corporate tag. And an “electable” African American is the newest product in the American political Wal Mart.

Even as the first “electable” female candidate Clinton represents the newest Cadillac Escalade SUV the Detroit can deliver; it is the Democratic Party of her former White House spouse Bill Clinton and the politics of winning at any cost.

So let’s now deal with the bogus argument that Nader cost Gore, (and the nation’s best interests,) the 2000 election and single handedly gave us George “I would be The Messiah” Bush and the war in Iraq:

Florida corruption, Florida Democrats who voted for Bush and a politically rigged Supreme Court stole the election. Nor did Gore win his own state!

In addition, the Democratic Congress with Hillary Clinton in the forefront, gave Bush what he needed to go to war and she and Obama consistently have given him the money to continue the war in the Middle East and the police state laws for him and Cheney to wage domestic war against the citizens of this country.

Next, there is the proposition that Nader’s campaign will tilt the 2008 election to McCain. Is this a joke?

If the Democrats can’t beat the Republican’s redux Bush in McCain this year, then all they have proven is that the American people understand that there’s not a dimes worth of difference between the two corporate owned parties and have told the Democrats that they are liars, hypocrites and traitors and to shove it. That’s a good thing because that’s the truth.

So what we are left with is an opportunity to force the principles of our political agenda into the public debate, on whatever scale. And this means not allowing the corporate media or the monitors of televised debates to determine the value of this effort or its results.

Perhaps it’s also an existential exercise: if you knew you were going to die right after reading this missive would you want to go to your just deserts supporting Clinton, Obama or supporting the principles of progressive politics which Nader represents?

While there are more issues that could be on the Nader platform the following are enough to start with. And he does us a favor: He delineates for us the difference between the issues he demands be debated on behalf of the American people and the positions taken by the two Democratic Party clones:

Adopt single payer national health insurance?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA= Off the table

Cut the huge, bloated, wasteful military budget?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

No to nuclear power, solar energy first?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Aggressive crackdown on corporate crime and corporate welfare?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Open up the Presidential debates?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Adopt a carbon pollution tax?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA= Off the table

Reverse U.S. policy in the Middle East?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Impeach Bush/Cheney?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Repeal the Taft-Hartley anti-union law?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Adopt a Wall Street securities speculation tax?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Put an end to ballot access obstructionism?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Work to end corporate personhood?

NADER - On the table. CLINTON/OBAMA = Off the table

Now ask yourself: if Clinton and Obama refuse to support these essential if reformist options to the rule of the corporations, why would you trust them to protect your Constitutional rights any more than McCain or Bush?

The answer is you can’t. So don’t.

35 KBR: (A Subsidiary of Halliburton, A Dick Cheney Co.) Executives Busted for War Profiteering

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 25th, 2008 1:22 pm by HL

Yesterday I watched one of the Oscar nominated documentaries “No End in Sight” It is basically a history of the Iraq war, It goes over every detail from the planning of the war which started right after 9/11, all the way up to the “surge” which was made possible by the fact that Bush, Rumfeld, and the Iraq Czar L. Paul Bremer refused to listen to anyone who knew what they were talking about in regard to how many troops we sent over there. People like General Shinseki, and Jay Gardiner who was the first Iraq Czar, when Bush found out that Gardiner was actually trying to do some good over there, Bush fired him and replaced him with Bremer, who proceeded to FUBAR’d (A military term meaning F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition)
The film also details how the Bush administration made the worst possible decision at every possible term. The incompetence was so stunning that I feel it had to be intentional. You see they wanted to make sure we were there for as long as possible so they could steal as much money throught the oil as possible.

The movie also highlights all the no bid contracts awarded to Kellog, Brown and Root (aka KBR) which is a subsidiary of Halliburton the company that Dick Cheney used to run and still owns hundreds of thousands of shares of stock in. The actions of KBR were blatantly criminal, and today comes word that 35 KBR execs. have been indicted for war profiteering.

Daily Kos has the story:

Federal prosecutors in Rock Island, Illinois have indicted four former supervisors from KBR, the giant defense firm, along with a decorated Army officer and five executives from KBR subcontractors based in the U.S. or the Middle East. Those defendants, along with two other KBR employees who have pleaded guilty in Virginia, account for a third of the 36 people indicted to date on Iraq war-contract crimes, Justice Department records show.

And, the dirty little secrets are in free-flow mode

Saturday’s Chicago Tribune tells the sordid tale:

Hundreds of pages of recently unsealed court records detail how kickbacks shaped the war’s largest troop support contract months before the first wave of U.S. soldiers plunged their boots into Iraqi sand.

The graft continued well beyond the 2004 congressional hearings that first called attention to it. And the massive fraud endangered the health of American soldiers even as it lined contractors’ pockets, records show.

(snip)

On Wednesday, a federal judge in Rock Island sentenced the Army official, Chief Warrant Officer Peleti “Pete” Peleti Jr., to 28 months in prison for taking bribes. One Middle Eastern subcontractor treated him to a trip to the 2006 Super Bowl, a defense investigator said.

Prosecutors would not confirm or deny ongoing grand jury activity. But court records identify a dozen FBI, IRS and military investigative agents who have been assigned to the case. Interviews as well as testimony at the sentencing for Peleti, who has cooperated with authorities, suggest an active probe.

The home to the U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Rock Island, Illinois serves as the epicenter for the ongoing FBI probe into war-profiteering committed by KBR, because it’s here that the Army top brass at the arsenal act as administrators for all contracts awarded to KBR’s so-called LOGCAP III — which calls for the company to feed, shelter and support U.S. troops – while helping to restore Iraq’s oil infrastructure.

“No End in Site” talks about this in depth. I want to see this case go all the way to the top, to the head war profiteers, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Bremer, and many more

John McCain Just Lost The Election

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 25th, 2008 12:55 pm by HL

John McCainJohn McCain thinks he can change America’s mind on Iraq, he thinks he can convince people that the surge is working. McCain just came out and said if he cannot do that he looses. Well guess what Johnny Boy, you lose. There is no way anyone that wasn’t going to vote for you anyway (the harcore 25% that will never admit they were wrong.) is going to believe a word your lying ass has to say about Iraq. The quagmire you helped prolong with your whole “surge” idea. Don’t you think that saying we should stay in Iraq for the next thousand is going to make people know that you are justing fronting for the neocons and the oil companies, and your corporate masters. Hey John did lobbyists pay you to say that. You seem to be pretty far into their pockets. C’mon John, even Hillary says the war has to end. You better find a way to steal a bunch of states in the election John otherwise you got no chance.

AP
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - John McCain said Monday that to win the White House he must convince a war-weary country that U.S. policy in Iraq is succeeding. If he can’t, “then I lose. I lose,” the Republican said.

But McCain ever the flip-flopper immediately retracted his statement that he will lose

“Let me not put it that stark,” the likely GOP nominee told reporters on his campaign bus. “Let me just put it this way: Americans will judge my candidacy first and foremost on how they believe I can lead the county both from our economy and for national security. Obviously, Iraq will play a role in their judgment of my ability to handle national security.”
“If I may, I’d like to retract ‘I’ll lose.’ But I don’t think there’s any doubt that how they judge Iraq will have a direct relation to their judgment of me, my support of the surge,” McCain added. “Clearly, I am tied to it to a large degree.”

John must have realized at that moment that he was dreaming about Iraq, but he can’t think that he can win by running on the economy? How is he going to fix the economy? by ending the Bush tax cuts. His own party will revolt agaisnt him if he does that. We know he isn’t going to end the war, so what will he do? Nothing.

Over the next eight months, McCain said he would take the same approach when discussing Iraq that he’s taken all year as he won primary after primary on his way to securing the GOP nomination.

He said he would “tell them that I understand their frustration and their sorrow over the sacrifice that has been made and then I try to explain to them what’s at stake and what’s going on there now. And that’s the best I can do.”

Sorry Johnny Boy, not good enough, not nearly good enough

The Real Reason For All Wars

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 22nd, 2008 3:55 pm by HL

Heres a story about all the graft, kickbacks, extortion, and greed that goes along with War Profiteering. Of course this story as all MSM stories like this attempt to punish the low level Death Merchants, and will never come close to mentioning the biggest war profiteers of them all: George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and the rest of the Neocon murderers for profit. It was the same deal as Abu Gharib where the low level uneducated grunts who were just following orders get punished, but the people who issued those orders are never touched. Of course this is the real reason for all wars: Money. The rich despicable bastards get even richer while the poor who join up becuase they cannot get any kind of decent work get killed.

Chicago Tribune
Inside the world of war profiteers

Excerpt:
ROCK ISLAND, Ill.—Inside the stout federal courthouse of this Mississippi River town, the dirty secrets of Iraq war profiteering keep pouring out.

John McCains Been a Very Bad Boy

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 21st, 2008 12:21 pm by HL

The Republican front runner and until know shoo-in for the nominantion has been hit by twin blasts by a 12 guage shotgun today. First off a report out of the New York Times is saying that McCain has been having an affair with a woman over 30 years younger than him, he also apparently has been doing some favors for the woman who is, get this, a Lobbyist. McCain you silly old man. Did you really think she was hanging out with you for your good looks. And what will McCains’s wife think of this? Then at the same time some people want to talk to him about loans, and public funding and lines of credit that he used on his campaign. So McCain seems to be every bit a crooked as Bush, and the rest of the Republicans, no new news there. You know this won’t be any detriment to his nomination because only Democrats should be taken to task for affairs and illegal dealings with lobbyists, and illegal loans. Wasn’t McCain a part of the Campaign Finance Law. The Republicans will love this guy. You can read all the sordid details here.

NY Times
For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk

WASHINGTON — Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, visiting his offices and accompanying him on a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s client, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship. But to his advisers, even the appearance of a close bond with a lobbyist whose clients often had business before the Senate committee Mr. McCain led threatened the story of redemption and rectitude that defined his political identity.

It had been just a decade since an official favor for a friend with regulatory problems had nearly ended Mr. McCain’s political career by ensnaring him in the Keating Five scandal. In the years that followed, he reinvented himself as the scourge of special interests, a crusader for stricter ethics and campaign finance rules, a man of honor chastened by a brush with shame.

But the concerns about Mr. McCain’s relationship with Ms. Iseman underscored an enduring paradox of his post-Keating career. Even as he has vowed to hold himself to the highest ethical standards, his confidence in his own integrity has sometimes seemed to blind him to potentially embarrassing conflicts of interest.

McCain Loan Raises FEC Questions

WASHINGTON (AP) - The government’s top campaign finance regulator says John McCain can’t drop out of the primary election’s public financing system until he answers questions about a loan he obtained to kickstart his once faltering presidential campaign.

Federal Election Commission Chairman David Mason, in a letter to McCain this week, said the all-but-certain Republican nominee needs to assure the commission that he did not use the promise of public money to help secure a $4 million line of credit he obtained in November.

McCain’s lawyer, Trevor Potter, said Wednesday evening that McCain has withdrawn from the system and that the FEC can’t stop him. Potter, who was FEC chairman in 1994, said the campaign did not encumber the public funds in any way.

"Well, it was done before in another campaign. … We think it’s perfectly legal. One of our advisers is a former chairman of the FEC, and we are confident that it was an appropriate thing to do," McCain told a news conference Thursday.

DNC Putting Up Big Money To Get Kucinich Out of Congress

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 19th, 2008 11:40 am by HL

The Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and most of the rest of the DLC, and DNC hate Dennis Kucinich. He is the only one holding them back from completing the Facist takeover they have been working on for decades. These Democrats are especially pissed that Dennis is trying to impeach their good friend George W. Bush Jr.
To get back at Dennis they are investing heavily in some out of towner to go in and beat Dennis in his own district. Here is an interview with DK

Buzzflash.com
The independent media is a treasure, and we understand how important it is to access independent media to be able to have a viewpoint that is unadulterated by the commercial interests. … There are many people who are trying to get out independent messages. I know BuzzFlash is one of them. Cherish those outlets, because they’re the key to maintaining whatever semblance of a democracy we still have. …

Impeachment is not, per se, removal from office. It really says that there are serious questions that must be asked as to the conduct of the people who are guiding this nation. And in the case of the President and the Vice President, there is incontrovertible evidence that they lied to take us into a war. They should be held accountable.

– Congressman Dennis Kucinich

* * *

Many progressives lamented that the person who most articulated their values in the current presidential primary race was Dennis Kucinich (or John Edwards). But in large part due to media neglect of his campaign, he was never able to get enough exposure to gain traction. MSNBC even went to court to keep him out of a presidential debate.

Kucinich cut short his effort to raise fundamental issues of justice at the national level because trouble was brewing in Cleveland. In short, well-monied interests took advantage of Kucinich’s presidential campaign to back a candidate to challenge Dennis in the March 4th Ohio primary. So Kucinich had to suddenly switch gears from running for president to battling to keep his Congressional seat, due to well-heeled opposition who don’t cotton to Kucinich’s calls for corporate and political accountability.

We don’t normally do this, but you can help Congressman Kucinich by going to http://kucinich.us/ and making a contribution. And if you live in his district or know someone who does, help get out the vote for Dennis on March 4th. We need his fearless truth to power.

Bush Celebrates President’s Day…In Africa

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 18th, 2008 12:24 pm by HL

Bush hanging out with his only friends
Bush in KenyaHappy President’s Day, Today is the day that we celebrate the leaders of this (once) great nation. Back in the ’60s or so, we used to celebrate Washington’s Birthday, and Lincoln’s Birthday, which happened to be only a week or so apart. Then at some point it was decided that 2 days off for everyone was too much, so they combined the two days, and added in all the other Presidents as well. This was a Republican idea so that great leaders like Nixon, and later Reagan, Bush, and Bush could bask in the glory.
So today is the day for Jr. It is his last President’s day. Time for him to greet the people, and bask in all of his accomplishments before he rides off into the sunset. But wait, it appears he already had ridden off into the sunset. Rather than host a ceremony honoring his achievements and those of his predecessors, and trumpeting his success in Iraq, and with the economy, Bush is nowhere to be seen. In fact he is about as far away from Washington D.C. as you can get before you start coming back around again. Bush is hanging out with the Masai Tribesman in Kenya.
bush and the masaiPerhaps he is afraid of a repeat of his original inauguration, where his limo was pelted with eggs. You see the people were not happy when they stole his way into power, and they are even less happy now. So unhappy in fact that Bush has cleared out of the hemisphere rather than face the music of the worst Presidency in history. The most criminally inept government in the history of the world. The 943 Proven lies Bush has told have sunk this country to a new low. I will not go over all the things that Bush lied about and all the other crimes he committed that would take up an entire library of books. You can browse this site to see many of them.
Let’s just hope that by next President’s Day Bush will be where he really belongs, in prison.

2008 – A World of Tricknology

Posted in Michael O'McCarthy's Blog, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 18th, 2008 11:00 am by Michael O'Mccarthy

Mike O'Mccarthy
Michael O’McCarthy

The Worst Politics in the World!

“Tricknology:” In the nineteen sixties the Black Muslims coined the term “tricknology” for the method The White Man (The Devil) used to trick black people.

I think its Tricknology that’s at play in 2008 president election if never before. Its as if the white men of Madison Avenue and Hollywood were hired by the DNC to come up with the perfect trick to fool folks into keeping their ruling managers in office while at the time making believe that “change” was taking place:

To put this in context the 2008 US Presidential candidates are at play in a world of trouble:

There’s more human misery, pain and suffering among the poor, working and middle class people than any one candidate or President can remedy – even if they had it within their experience to truly care. Even when their hyped antidote is “hope!” These professional opportunists know this. What they may or may not acknowledge is that they are institutionally incapable of experiencing empathy for the Wretched of the Earth.

Sympathy, pity, guilt, yes. But empathy? Very rarely.

So the everyday plight of we “the people” becomes cataloged as the ailments of a “class,” “the poor,” “working class,” “middle class,” “people of color,” the “Third World.” For those that “pull themselves up by their bootstraps,” or even those who are the beneficiaries of good fortune, very, very few ever “remember where they came from.” Cruising in the rarified air of millions dollar campaigns not only alienates a person from those left behind, it brings about a consciousness of assumed privilege, and the insulation a million dollar “safety net.”

Thus, even the most “reform” minded soon view the world through a macro lens: The people are an abstraction, a “demographic,” a target population whose problems must be addressed, or legislated for. In other words, may “God help them,” cause very little else will be done to change the cause of their circumstance.

But as the elections of 2006 and 2008 rolled around there was a groundswell among the American people that demanded “change.” This was first evidenced in the 2006 elections. That anger was based upon the failure of the US military strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan and at the looming recession created by Bush’s economics of deficit budgeting for those wars and the inequitable tax breaks for the ruling class.

To take advantage of this demand for change the Republicans put together a group of creepy
right wingers. Left at the end was a huckster preacher, part Elmer Gantry, part faux Will Rogers, in the form of Huckabee, the ex-governor, touting war and abortion prohibition, and lastly an aging White Knight who is a cross between President “Ike” Eisenhower and General Douglas MaCarthur. In other words, no change in war mongering, or repressive government at home, no equitable economic plan, but a more robust clarion call for “full steam ahead” with “competence” as the method of change.

Thus, the “agents of change” demanded by the American people in 2006 had to come from the Democratic Party.

Phone calls must have been made to Hollywood and Madison avenue by the DNC suits begging the question: How can we look like change but maintain the domestic security police apparatus, economic control with a little bigger “safety net” and an imperialist-militaristic foreign policy and at the same time look like genuine “agents of change?” How can we divide and conquer while looking like we are uniting around the common good of “the people.” In other words, how can we trick the fools this time?

Madison Avenue provided the text and Hollywood provided the um, color if you will:

First came the Pink Collared First Woman President in American History puppet character in the form of a now experienced, practiced, sensible Hillary Clinton. Calling herself “an agent for change” and a “progressive” she would represent that 50% plus of all the women in this country who were victims of sexism, gender bias, misogyny and who aspired to “break through” the “glass ceiling” into true positions of power. Along with her would come the stalwart old-line democrats of the party, the power brokers, not to mention the first faux “Black President,” Wild Bill Clinton.

But they needed that something more in this time of the greatest racial disparity since the time of Segregation. Hmm, how could they solve that dilemma?

Up popped the charismatic Person of Color to be the first Black President in American History puppet character in the form of Barack Obama. By his presence alone he would in one fell swoop, redress all the grievances of slavery, post-reconstruction terror, segregation, ghetto–projects poverty and underemployment, the underinsured and poor folks, and prove at last that we could, in fact, “all getalong.” By doing so he would also capture the imagination of youth looking for a “rising star” and refresh the memory of the lost Camelot. Whew. Whata order.

But for a while they had one minor problem. The fly in the eye was a true progressive that continued to call both “agents of change” on their fake solutions to the problems of the poor, working and middle classes. He was a politician of note who put forth a contrasting and authentic progressive platform, one Dennis Kucinich. How would they rid the public arena of this pain in the ass that kept calling them on their “tricknology?”

First the wizards behind the curtains at network TV began to emphasize his eccentricities making him out to be a court jester. Then they began to marginalize his program for change in concert with the responses or non-responses from his competitors. Symbolic of this what John Edwards did at one debate when responding to Kucinich’s pointed remark about Edwards knowing how faulty foreign imports damaged Americans because Edwards was an experienced litigator:

“Cute, Dennis,” sniped Edwards, dodging the question.

Thus was Kucinich caricatured.

When Kucinich persisted, winning popular poll after popular poll, they censored him: refusing to allow him to participate in national debates. In the end underfunded and marginalized, he surrendered.

And now the two “headline grabbing front runners” had the field to them selves, for all intents and purposes, as the last voice of “concern” for the disenfranchised, John Edwards, dropped out.

The ruse for the Democrats was the proffered plight of the poor, working and middle class people of the US, once their banner had been taken up by these “agents of change,” the deal was done. Those who would vote Democratic have been suckered into the PR of voting for either the “First Female President of the United States,” or the “First Black President of the United States.” That left only one of two alternatives: Don’t vote at all or be forced to switch where possible and go with the militarist rightwing angel of vengeance, one Republican Senator John McCain.

McCain offered a complex contrast, on the one hand being the one candidate of the three who has a genuine empathy for an aggrieved peer group: A POW veteran who was tortured during his confinement must know at his root the pain veterans of America’s war suffer.

He is, after all, the one who can reach out to the vets and their families and say honestly, “I understand.” Perhaps being the one “politician” who could force sufficient funds into the VA and force delivery of the appropriate care and treatment vets deserve. That campaign cuts a wide swatch through the electorate of the US.

However what the “Tricknologists” and McCain want America to forget is that he is not only a victim of the war against the people of South East Asia, he is a perpetrator. As an unrecovered War Hawk, the wizards want us to forget the fact that if he had not been carpet bombing the people of Vietnam during the end of Operation Rolling Thunder he wouldn’t have been in the prison camp in the first place. Thus, in the eyes of the world, McCain is a war criminal.

This is not an apology for the torture he experienced. Torturing prisoners is a war crime and ought to be prosecuted in international courts.

Having said that, there is also no excuse for translating one war crime for another: McCain’s support for the criminal war in Iraq, and his aid and comfort to the two war criminals, Bush and Cheney, reflects McCain’s predisposition to wage war as foreign policy, the militarization of Globalization. As a “conservative” Republican, the poor, the working and middle class citizens can only look for more of the Reagan-Bush exploitation-economics.

So the American people are about to “get fooled again.” And the choices are again, “the lesser Evilism.”

We have yet another White Knight for the paternal racists and their co-dependents to vote for.

A First Female President who pulls at the aspirations of women tired of being second class citizens but is no more or less a puppet of Corporate America than..,

The wannabe First Black President, who can fulfill, in iconic form at least, the dream of “overcoming” their historic plight in racist America.

That none of these fools will offer the “change” so much needed to advance the American Dream of a democracy for and by the people is being hidden behind the urge for a Democratic Party victory.

Progressives caught between the two Democratic Party puppets, Clinton and Obama are yearning for “hope” in choosing whom to support. The demand for “anyone but a Republican” is driving them like the Crackers drove cattle in the panhandle of Florida. It’s a pity. But it’s our own fault. We danced with the clowns from the Demo Party as if we were going to be invited to the inqaugural ball. Ha!

In the end choosing either of these two is not about what they will do to structurally change the Corporate State of America, its what WE can do while they keep the fascists at bay long enough for us to recoup and create a progressive movement.

The real loss is that there is very little to nothing anyone can do about this situation as it is. Or, as the Brothers would say, “tricknology is a Mutherfucker!” And you can take that any way you want!

Will The Democratic Super Delegates Hand the Election to McCain?

Posted in Main Blog (All Posts) on February 17th, 2008 9:03 am by HL

by HL
After all the votes, and all the debates in all the states it now seems almost certain that the Democratic nomination will come down to 300 undecided Super delegates who are uncommitted out of the 796 Super delegates total, these SD’s are the big money power people in Washington and they will decide, not you, who gets the nomination.

I see now that everyone is saying that Hillary’s campaign is in trouble, that she is slipping and Barack Obama is surging. The media now seem squarely behind Obama, However this is starting to remind me of 2000, when NBC called Florida and thereby the election for Gore, only to have Bush’s father engineer the theft of the election.
Looks like the media is pumping everyone up for Obama, I guess they love to see people disappointed when the candidate they love, suddenly loses.

Lets look at the numbers. Clinton, and Obama are in a virtual dead heat in terms of delegates. However Hillary has won virtually all of the big states with the exception of Obama’s home state of Illinois. Hillary is also polling ahead in the two upcoming big states of Texas and Ohio. If she wins both of those states, (and I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have some help in Ohio if you know what I mean) She will be in the lead. Even so it appears almost certain that the nomination will come down to the super delegates.

And what is the story with these super delegates anyway? I have been following politics for a long time and had never heard of a super delegate before, maybe because a Democratic nomination was never this close since I have been watching so the SD’s didn’t come into play. In the primaries the candidates win delegates based on the number of votes they collected in any given state. The Super delegates however can pick either candidate even if it means going against the will of the people from their particular state; It’s kind of like the electoral college. In a general election a state can vote overwhelmingly for one candidate, only to have that states electors cast their votes for the losing candidate, it’s just another way to fix an election. They did it twice in a row with Bush, (fix an election that is) and it appears a handful of the corporate elite will decide who gets to run against McCain this time around.

That being the case I don’t see how anyone could believe that The Clinton’s will not find a way to wrangle more of the super delegates than Obama. As the ex-President Bill Clinton must have plenty of markers he can call in to get people to vote for his wife. The Clinton’s have been beltway insiders since at least 1992, while Obama didn’t come on the scene until 2004. To me it looks pretty clear that Hillary will be the nominee, I don’t see it going down any other way.

So once Hillary gets the nomination, what will happen in the general election. My first reaction would be to say that McCain and the Republicans will find a state or three to steal a la the Bush family, and maybe that’s the whole master plan from the start. If that were to happen the media could begin crowing that “Well, I guess the nation was not ready for a Woman president after all” As countless Millions hang their heads in disbelief that a Republican has once again taken what was not theirs. However the only thing that stops me from really believing this scenario is that we are talking about the Clintons, and not lame-o’s like Al Gore, and John Kerry.

So the really interesting part of the election will come on election day itself, when we see if Bill and Hill will put a stop to the highway robbery that the past two nominees could not. Either way the war will continue, and corporate America will reap the benefits. Poor people will have a choice of being forced to pay for health insurance they can’t afford, (and avoid being fined) or eating and paying for gas so they can drive to work. Maybe Obama will have a chance in 2016, but by then Jenna Bush will be old enough to run, and she can go up against Chelsea, and the Bush/Clinton dominance of the US will go on for the rest of our lives. What could be better than that?

Congress is prepared to vote on comtempt charges against Bush council Harriet Miers and former chief of staff Josh Bolten. Will Congress continue to persue this even after Bush is out of office, or will they just give him a free pass, as Nancy Pelosi wants so badly.

EPISODE 4

While Healey wrote and Patrick blazed upon his guitar Miguel was in retreat, an often habituated practice. It allowed him to cleanse his soul, as he would tell his one of two friends he trusted. And Costa Rica was the perfect place for his cleansing. His fluent, though slightly accented Spanish allowed him easy movement throughout the country. His settlement on the Nicoya Peninsula in Tambor was part cliff and part bay. While the water was an odd brown, it was one of the few beaches within the area without riptides and odd changes in water patterns. He liked the calm of the water. It calmed him. The peninsula was a respite from a world he hated.

It was also isolated from the rest of Costa Rica yet accessible by boat, car or bus. An exit could be had very quickly.

He was bothered. His assassination of The Patron broke a pattern of trust with those who hired him. It was unethical. It was also very dangerous. But he knew it was a turning point for him. A moral one. Not of a nature he applied often in the killing business.

He slowly had come to realize that the killings he did for them no longer could be cloaked in a form of patriotism, them vs. the U.S. One of the last of his killings was a man dedicated, no matter how violently or skewed in his belief systems, to overthrowing the repressive regime that controlled his country.

But killing The Patron was more personal than professional, and of course there would be consequences. No man with Austin’s wealth and attachment to the power of the United States could be killed and there not be consequences. And there was confluence as well. And of course, coincidence, for life is ruled by coincidence.

He had no illusions about The Patron’s associations. The President of the United States and those that controlled him considered the killing of adversaries routine.

He’d made the phone call to The Agent who’d hired him. He explained the circumstance of the surveillance. He termed death of The Patron as “killing in self-defense.” He did not mention his affinity for Patrick or Healey. He barely allowed himself to recognize it. The Agent didn’t ask, though he made it clear that he knew the assignment not to have been completed. He would take Miguel’s explanation to the commission that oversaw their work. He ended the conversation with “believe me, I understand.”

The phrase “I understand” was ruining his retreat. They would send someone after him.

Berkley Leaders Wimp Out

Berkeley catches flak over Marines

Protest

The City Council recently voted to give the group Code Pink a free parking space in front of the recruiting office.
The city’s declaration against recruiting by the Corps brings criticism from all over.
By John M. Glionna, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

February 12, 2008

BERKELEY — Under the image of a stern serviceman in uniform, the sign in the window of the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting station extols the traits of America’s armed forces: “Smart. Tough. Elite.”

This famously liberal town recently added its own descriptor: Unwanted.
In a move reminiscent of Berkeley’s 1960s antiwar protests, the City Council ignited a national firestorm last month by issuing a strongly worded declaration that blasted military recruiting techniques and labeled the Marine Corps as “uninvited and unwelcome intruders.” One council member said U.S. troops were responsible for “horrible karma,” and Mayor Tom Bates offered to help the Marines evacuate.

The return fire was swift. Several Republican senators sponsored a bill to reroute $2.3 million in federal funding from Berkeley to the Marines. In the last 10 days, city officials have received 26,000 e-mails, mostly from irate people who called the declaration irresponsible. Several council members have received death threats….

In recent days, Berkeley officials have backpedaled and Bates issued a public apology. Tonight, the council will consider a motion to remove the criticism about recruiting and express the community’s support for U.S. troops fighting abroad.

HL’s Take
Wow, what a bunch of total wusses those Berkeley city officials are. Back in the ’60’s Berkeley was the anti-war capital of the one of the 2 biggest anti-war cities in America. the University of California at Berkeley was the center of protest during that period, the city leaders who made the proclamation against the Marines probably lived in Berkley as young people, they probably went to the school. So when they said what they said agaisnt the Marines they obviously meant it. So now a few Freeper Republican yahoos who are trained to respond to anything that might go agaisnt there so called “values” (like man on man sex in airport bathrooms) respond with an all out campaign, of course it is just a few people with nothing better to do than register countless complaints each.
So what does the city leaders of Berkley do? Back down and now say they love the Marines. Where is the integrity? Those fools will get even less respect from Republicans, and military types now then they ever did. Why? because they backed down from their beliefs because they were afraid that those beliefs were not popular. No wonder the Iraq war has been going on for 5 years. What a bunch of worms. It reminds me of the scene in Full Metal Jacket. It was Christmas, and Sergeant Hartman asks Private Joker if he believes in The Virgin Mary

HARTMAN: I want that head so sanitary and squared away that the Virgin Mary herself would be proud to go in there and take a dump!

JOKER & COWBOY: (in unison) Sir, yes, sir!

HARTMAN: Private Joker, do you believe in the Virgin Mary?

JOKER: Sir, no, sir!

HARTMAN throws down the garbage can with a loud bang.

HARTMAN: Priivate Joker, I don’t believe I heard you correctly!

JOKER: Sir, the private said “No, sir,” sir!

HARTMAN: Why, you little maggot! You make me want to vomit!

HARTMAN slaps JOKER, hard, across the cheek.

HARTMAN: You goddam communist heathen, you had best sound off that you love the Virgin Mary . . . or I’m gonna stomp your guts out! Now you do love the Virgin Mary, don’t you?!

JOKER: Sir, negative, sir!!

HARTMAN: Private Joker, are you trying to offend me?!

JOKER: Sir, negative, sir!!! Sir, the private believes that any answer he gives will be wrong! And the Senior Drill Instructor will beat him harder if he reverses himself, sir!

HARTMAN: Who’s your squad leader, scumbag?

JOKER: Sir, the private’s squad leader is Private Snowball, sir!!!

HARTMAN: Private Snowball!

SNOWBALL double-times up to HARTMAN.

SNOWBALL: Sir, Private Snowball reporting as ordered, sir!

HARTMAN: Private Snowball, you’re fired! Private Joker is promoted to squad leader!

SNOWBALL: Sir, aye-aye, sir!….

HARTMAN: Private Joker is silly and he’s ignorant, but he’s got guts, and guts is enough. Now, you ladies carry on.

So in the movie the Sergeant thought that Joker was stupid and wrong. He wasn’t of course, and neither are the city leaders of Berkley, but Joker had the balls to stick to his convictions and got promoted. The Berkley people are cowards who will now be looked upon as people who fold when the going gets tough. Perhaps the good people of Berkley should vote these city heads out and get some people in their who can sound off like they have a pair.

Kucinich Threatened by Pelosi & AIPAC to Drop Impeachment

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 11th, 2008 2:27 pm by HL

— 3 February 2008 — Exclusive to New Jersey Impeach Groups - ImpeachThem.com — We received a phone call today from a source in the Kucinich for President campaign, telling us there’s more to the story of Rep. Kucinich’s withdrawal than is publicly known. The source gave us permission to publish this, but without attribution. We can say the source is high up in the campaign. Most progressives are aware there’s been a large flood of money feeding a campaign by Cleveland City Council democrat Joe Cimperman, who seeks to win the primary for Dennis Kucinich’s seat in Ohio’s 10th congressional district, where Dennis has served the interests of working people for 6 consecutive terms — since 1996. Here’s the rest of the story, untold ‘til now. — Click the KUCINICH BANNER to read the rest —

Before the Nevada primary, Dennis was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — AIPAC. They told Dennis that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives.

Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Dennis now faces the toughest election campaign of his entire tenure in congress, with huge amounts of money being spent to turn his constituents against him due to “his neglect of his district while he ran for president.” Citizens should legitmately ask where Cimperman’s immense media warchest comes from.

So yes, Virginia, it is exactly as you suspected. This man the mainstream media say is not relevant, poses such a threat to the powers that be that they are hellbent to destroy him, and remove that troublemaker from congress.

It’s up to us, all who understand the crucial voice of Dennis Kucinich speaking up for justice and working to stop our country’s fall into fascist barbarity, to come forward to help him continue the peoples’ work. There’s no better time than right now, so go to CONTRIBUTE TO DENNIS KUCINICH. Help Dennis now. Help him TODAY

The Right to Vote Your Conscience without Interference

Posted in Jennifer Ziemann's Blog, Main Blog (All Posts) on February 5th, 2008 6:27 pm by Michael O'Mccarthy

Bread and Roses:

By: Jennifer Lynne Ziemann

Please someone, anyone tell me why I should care whom the ruling class is voting for? Why should they hold press conferences to let me, a worker bee, know who they think should be president? Are they so arrogant that they believe their opinion will sway others? Are they so arrogant that they believe the masses are too stupid to decide who becomes the next president without their public endorsement of the next Puppet in Chief? I truly resent their assumptions.

In the last week alone we have watched Caroline Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, the Lion Ted Kennedy, and Maria Shriver endorse Barack Obama. Of course, we also have John Kerry backing him. And let’s not forget who started it all the great and powerful Oprah. I love Oprah but I do not want to know whom she is voting for. I watch Oprah to find out what pair of blue jeans is best for my body type or the warning signs of a deadly disease or how to stop aging. There is no indication that she is a political expert about what is best for our country.

Here’s a good one: Chuck Norris for Mike Huckabee. Gimme a break, the only thing we get from this is that maybe Mike Huckabee can kick ass. Or how about Sylvester Stallone supporting John McCain? Look out Philadelphia, here comes the next Rocky. Both are instances in arrogance, both candidates believe that the working masses would be swayed by such celebrity endorsements.

Now I realize groups like NOW, who endorsed Hillary Clinton, or the different unions in each state publicly endorse candidates. I have even shared my endorsement for Dennis Kucinich when he was running. But these groups as well as myself are individuals from all walks of life and they represent working class men and women. When you have the ruling class celebrity echelons holding news conferences as if their vote is more important than the average person you have a flawed system of politics that speaks to deep- seated issues that go back to the beginning of when this nation was formed.

In 1870, African-American males were given the right to vote but they were effectively barred from polling places due to the fact they had to pay polling taxes and pass literacy tests. It was not until the 1964 Voting Rights Act that their vote was truly considered equal in every way to white America’s vote. Women were not allowed to vote until 1920. Up until that time it was generally thought that they did not need the right to vote because a woman should feel the same as the male head of the family. Therefore her vote would be the same as her husband’s or father’s so there was no need for her to have that individual right. African- Americans and women were denied the right to make up their own mind and nowadays with the “public voting” of the ruling class you again set up a system that interferes with the individual’s right to make up their own mind. It effectively infringes upon the rights of the working class, the poor, and the homeless in our society. Despite the charity work the Kennedys do on behalf of these people, they are in no position to make any informed decision on what is best for the masses. They have never walked in our shoes.

In order for the election of our governing officials to remain a democratic process, people who live their lives in a public role; i.e. celebrities or the ruling class, should refrain from endorsing publicly persons running for elected positions. At the least they should refrain from holding news conferences to specifically tell the masses. Ordinary citizens must feel free to vote their conscience without any outside interference in their decision. This form of “public voting” without a question interferes with the individual’s right to make up his or hers own mind.

When I endorsed Dennis Kucinich in my column, no one blinked an eye and I never received a press conference. I did a review of his book and mentioned what a wonderful president he would make. I also interviewed him with Michael O’ McCarthy and, yes, I was biased, I wanted him to be president. But I have no illusions. I am not a celebrity, nor a member of the ruling class, which is a key component in swaying the masses. I am not a mover or shaker. Unlike the Kennedys I hold no power. And as Peter Parker’s Uncle said in the movie Spiderman, “With great power comes great responsibility”.

I would argue that it is the responsibility of persons running for election to secure votes on their platform alone. Special interest monies or special interest endorsements have no place in a democratic election. Some would say this statement would be considered an infringement of the 1st amendment. Well, it isn’t about free speech; it is about responsibility, civic responsibility. A true democracy must have everyone’s vote put up for public consumption if they are going to have anyone’s vote or endorsement put up at all. The Kennedys know that when they throw their support behind a presidential candidate, the rest of the nation listens. Many people do not engage themselves in the political process or do not have the means to and are left less likely to do so because they are encouraged not to by public endorsements from the ruling class. This creates voting conformity; “Well if he is good enough for a Kennedy, he must be good enough for me”.

The whole point of going into a private booth to vote is to keep people from swaying public opinion in an unfair or unjust manner. If all voting was up for public consumption and each person was held responsible for his or her vote and the outcome of his or her vote then public endorsements could be considered part of the democratic process. Our system does not encourage active civic duty in which each person must become part of the political process and be responsible for his or her part.

Instead of public endorsements, the ruling class should encourage people to make informed decisions. They should support a political process that gets everyone involved such as door to door campaigning or free Internet access to provide information to every citizen. Equal coverage of every candidate on the airwaves and equal access for every candidate in all debates. They should support and teach democratic process, help register the poor and homeless to vote, and never, ever use their power to sway people in an election. They should instead use their power to encourage people to become a part of the political process and make informed, responsible decisions based upon their conscience. In other words a democracy should be a political process in which every person should be able to make his or her vote public knowledge and feel safe and proud in doing so.

It is not that the American working class is stupid. It is that they are disillusioned from the whole political process. They are not engaged to make informed choices on their own. We are conditioned, as a society through the media to believe that whatever celebrities or the ruling class are doing is naturally the “in” thing to do. Whether we like admitting it or not, media sways us from the too thin cover girls magazines deem as the way for women to look or the coolest car we should be driving or unfortunately the person we should vote for.

Not once but twice in my lifetime I have voted out of ignorance. I voted for George W. Bush in 2000 and again in 2004. I was young and dumb, easily swayed. I listened to talking heads telling me about tax breaks and the extra check I would get from the federal government for a tax rebate. Being a single mother raising two sons on my own, I voted in a selfish manner. I voted for my own interest and not that of the public. What gives me the right now to speak out against this administration when I voted for it? Accountability does. I make my vote public. I become accountable for the vote and the political process that followed it. I am just as responsible for every innocent death that has occurred in this war on terror as Bush and Cheney are. But I am no longer disillusioned. I am no longer listening to the ruling class endorsements. I am informed. I do my research. I know that voting is a selfless act.

No matter who is elected for President, the ruling class will still be, well, simply the ruling class. This election is about you and me, not the Kennedys, not Oprah, and most certainly not the Kerrys. They should keep their opinions to themselves if they really have the interest of the working classes in mind. Tell me whom you voted for afterwards but don’t try to sway me with your money or your illusions of a perfect and equal America. If it was an even playing field, then I would be hearing from my next door neighbor or the homeless person down at the corner panhandling. They would have been up on the stage with Obama not Ted and Caroline Kennedy.

Take back America. Be selfless, vote your conscience.

EPISODE 3

The Patron, Walter T. Austin, was not sleek, nor slender nor elegant. He was knobs, elbows, knees, hipbones, ribs, bony toes and fingers. His Adam’s apple moved awkwardly when he drawled his Florida cracker drawl. He was in his 70th year of li
