“Using statistics from the Commerce Department and other sources, and beginning with the Great Depression, Hively traces how recessions begin, how corporations and financial markets are interconnected and describes the consequences of current distribution of wealth and income practices…. Clarifying how the economy actually functions (which is radically different than what we have been led to believe), and through the subject of financial markets, globalization, big corporations and CEO millionaires, Hively is able to show that as these trends continue to unfold, the wealthiest are accumulating ever-increasing riches, and warns that this growing income gap will prove to be destabilizing factor.”

John Hively studied economics at the University of Tennessee and has been a freelance writer for Business Journal.

Ned Lamont on the Colbert Report

Crooks & Liars.com
By: Jamie Holly on Monday, July 31st, 2006 at 9:09 PM – PDT
Stephen Colbert interviewed Ned Lamont tonight about the upcoming Connecticut primary.

Video – WMV   Video – QT

Some rough transcript quotes from Ned:
"He (Lieberman) enables this President. The President has taken this country way of course."
"It’s our obligation to stand up as citizens."
Ned did an outstanding job at handling the tough interviews Stephen Colbert gives. He was quick with the responses and presented his platform very well.

63 More Dead in Bush’s Civil War in Iraq.

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on August 1st, 2006 9:54 am by HL

Here is the latest news from Bush’s personal bloodbath in Iraq.

Violence Kills 63 in Iraq

Excerpt
another great day in IraqBAGHDAD, Iraq – A roadside bomb blew up a bus Tuesday, killing 24 people as violence across Iraq left 63 people dead. Among the dead was a British soldier killed in a mortar attack in the south, while the U.S. military announced that an American soldier was killed by a roadside bomb on Monday.
Gunmen in Baghdad also kidnapped the spokesman of a political coalition including Shiite, Sunni, Kurdish and independent parties.
The bus, carrying many Iraqi soldiers, was struck in the northern industrial city of Beiji, killing everyone on board, said Defense Ministry spokesman Mohammed al-Askari. Police earlier said that 20 Iraqi soldiers were killed on the bus. Al-Askari confirmed that many of the passengers were soldiers, but said he did not know how many.

H.L.s Take:
What must it be like for the people over there wondering when there number is going to come up in Bush’s Death Lottery. I bet he gets a big smirk on his face every time he reads one of these stories (sorry I mean every time Condi reads one to him) because he loves killing and death, has ever since he used to blow up frogs as a kid.

Blair, Arnold, Sidestep Bush. Decide to Actually Do Something About Global Warming.

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on August 1st, 2006 9:34 am by HL

Looks like Bush is being ignored by his good friends Arnold Swarzenegger, and Tony Blair. They have decided to work together to find ways to stop greenhouse gas emissions, and Global Warming. Once again proving to the entire world what a complete Moron, and fool our President. How bad does that look when individual states are going over the head of the idiot in chief and taking matters like this into their own hands. I love it. California once again on the forefront, here is the story.
San Diego Tribune

Britain, California unite against global warming

Excerpt:
Blair, and Arnold get together on global warmingLONG BEACH – Britain and California are joining forces to fight global warming, sidestepping the Bush administration to explore ways to curb greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean-burning fuels.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a pact Monday to work together on those issues as they met with business leaders on clean energy and climate issues against the backdrop of a BP oil tanker at a terminal in the Port of Long Beach.
“We see that there is not great leadership from the federal government when it comes to protecting the environment,” Schwarzenegger said. “We know there is global warming, so we should stop it.”
Blair called global warming “long term, the single biggest issue we face.”

H.L.s Take:
So far it looks like Arnold is starting to back away from the Bushs and actually is starting to try to do something for California. He knows its the only chance he has to win re-election. And as usual the clueless democrats can’t get out of their own way, and are probably going to hand the election to Swarzenneger. Arnold is running a commercial here that says. “One mans opinion on Phil Angelidies.” (The Democratic nominee) They say all sorts of nasty things about Angelides, then at the end it is revealed that the quotes came from the guy Angelides ran against in the primaries. Fellow Democrat Steve Westley. Looks like they could take a lesson from Ronald Reagan, never speak ill of your fellow Republicans, just one more reason they win and Dems. lose
