US Losing Control In Iraq Fast

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on September 7th, 2006 7:50 am by HL

“It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.” -Donald Rumsfeld. February 2003.

What do you do if you hired someone to do work on your house and they promised to have the work done in 6 months and are still working on it 3 and a half years later?? FIRE THEIR ASSES. (Actually they would have been fired after 7 months, but not these guys. 30 percent of Americans want them to continue F**king up the house forever.

US Losing Control Fast

Attytood
Excerpt:
RAMADI – The U.S. military has lost control over the volatile al-Anbar province, Iraqi police and residents say.

The area to the west of Baghdad includes Fallujah, Ramadi and other towns that have seen the worst of military occupation, and the strongest resistance.

Despite massive military operations which destroyed most of Fallujah and much of cities like Haditha and al-Qa’im in Ramadi, real control of the city now seems to be in the hands of local resistance.

In losing control of this province, the U.S. would have lost control over much of Iraq.

“We are talking about nearly a third of the area of Iraq,” Ahmed Salman, a historian from Fallujah told IPS…
According to the group Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, 964 coalition soldiers have been killed in al-Anbar, more than in any other Iraqi province.. Baghdad is second, with 665 coalition deaths.

Residents of Ramadi told IPS that the U.S. military has knocked down several buildings near the government centre in the city, the capital of the province.

In an apparent move to secure their offices, U.S. Army and Marine engineers have started to level a half-kilometre stretch of low-rise buildings opposite the centre.

H.L.s Take
As reported here yesterday, the war is lost. If there is a way to F**k up, leave it to Bush, and Rumsfeld to find it.

Can’t believe you are still calling it a war. I am not sure what was actually lost or why you say it that way. I guess whatever you need to say to make it sound as BAD as possible suits you just fine.

  2. HL Says:

I don’t need to make it sound as bad as possible, it already is as bad as possible, and for you to believe anything else makes you seem exactly like the Republican plant you have been accused of being on these pages.

  3. lmz90028 Says:

Bush himself calls it a war. How many times do we have to hear him say “war on terror”? He just gave that big speech reminding us we’re still at war-HL had a link of an article on this speech up a few days ago. And Iraq is (supposedly) part of this war on terror…so what else is he supposed to call it??

    What was lost…are you joking?

American deaths: 2660 (of which over 2500 were after “mission accomplished”)

Americans wounded: the official count is almost 20,000 at this point

Iraqi civilians killed: in the range of 41,000-46,000

HL has the counter on the main page showing the billions of dollars poured into this mess

And of course also lost: the respect of the rest of the world

So it could not get any worse?? I doubt that. A war is an armed conflict between two nations. I believe that was over in 2003. Now we have a large military police action not a war. And I don’t care what Rummy GWB or any of those other slap dicks want to call it.

We are not fighting a nation at this point. The Iraq military was wiped out within a month or two. Saddam and his sons were either killed or captured. We are now doing nothing more than policing three unstable groups trying to keep them from killing one another.

For you to believe it couldn’t get any worse is what is really amazing. As far as the respect of the rest of the world goes I am trying to figure out why I should care. Nations disliked America before this and will continue to do so.

If I am a republican plant HL you are so far left you are not even on the same playing field as the rest of us. I have already informed you I make up my own mind. I don’t wait to see what the political parties are doing to make up my mind.

All of yall are wrong. The United States is at war with all radical Islamic terrorist organizations. These terrorist groups would be nothing without State sponcership. American blood from Beruit to Baghdad to Qandahar to New York City to a field in Pennsylvania is on THEIR hands. Saddams Iraq, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan under the Taliban all have American BLOOD on THEIR hands by the terrorist networks they supported. If a nation such as Iran or Syria, or North Korea fund the groups that take American lives then that is an act of war upon the United States by THAT TERRORIST STATE. As far as Im concernd this means America can bomb like hell! Go to town so to speak!!!
