Rohrabacher defends Cheney: ?Wait a minute, this person did some very good things.?

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) appeared on Fox New’s Your World with Neil Cavuto to discuss his exchange earlier today with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in which Clinton took a shot at Dick Cheney’s credibility. Cavuto lauded Rohrabacher as being a “pretty gutsy guy” for defending Cheney “in a packed room that everyone made a laughing stock of the [former] Vice President.” Cavuto then asked Rohrabacher why other Republicans aren’t sticking up for Cheney:
CAVUTO: [S]ome Republicans have been oddly silent in defending him or not. You took the fight on. Do you think that the vice president has been misrepresented here?
ROHRABACHER: I think that there’s a lot of people in this town that don’t have any courage, when someone is being belittled and they’re under attack, to stand up and say, ‘wait a minute, this person did some very good things.’

Former Attorney General John Ashcroft, who is currently running a “strategic consulting firm,” is opening up a new law firm with three former U.S. attorneys. Texas Parte Blog’s John Council reported yesterday that Ashcroft and former U.S. attorneys Johnny Sutton, John Ratcliffe and Catherine Hanaway are set to open up law firms in Texas and Missouri. Though lawyers are all conservatives, Sutton claims that “politics won’t matter at the firm“:
While Ashcroft and his new partners are conservatives, politics won’t matter at the firm, Sutton says. “I’m certainly not pitching this as an all-conservative law firm. Most of us are Republicans, but our focus is on good representation,” Sutton says.
But do expect Sutton to speak out on conservative causes soon. “I do want to keep a very public voice on policy matters as an aside from this,” he says.
According to Ratcliffe, a former U.S. attorney general starting a law firm with former U.S. attorneys has “never been done.”
