Working Class Whites Favor Republicans
An Associated Press-GfK poll shows “whites without four-year college degrees preferring GOP candidates by twice the margin of the last two elections, when Democrats made significant gains in the House and Senate. The poll, conducted last month, found this group favoring GOP hopefuls 58% to 36% — a whopping 22 percentage-point gap.”
Portman Has Giant Lead in Ohio
A new Quinnipiac poll in Ohio shows Rob Portman (R) far ahead of Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher (D) among likely voters in the U.S. Senate race, 55% to 36%.
Said pollster Peter Brown: “It would seem that Fisher’s best shot at victory might be finding a way to stop men from voting. Otherwise, he faces an incredibly uphill battle in the four weeks before Election Day in reversing a 33-point disadvantage among male voters. The fact that Fisher hasn’t been able to make up any ground since the last Quinnipiac University poll is a bad omen for his ability to make this a close race.”
