Dem Incumbent Loses Michigan Primary
Seven-term Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-Mich.) became the latest Congressional casualty of the primary season Wednesday morning. State Sen. Hansen Clarke upset Kilpatrick to secure the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s 13th Congressional district. Kilpatrick became the sixth Congress member to lose a primary this year after Reps. Alan Mollohan (D-W.V.), Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) and Parker Griffith (R-Ala.) and Sens. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) and Arlen Specter (D-Pa.).
