GOP Senators Facing Tough Races Are Skipping Republican Convention Yet more evidence of just how abysmal the GOP brand is these days? Nine of 12 targeted Republicans running in the most competitive Senate races this fall are either skipping the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., or have not…
Confessore in the Times … Four Spitzer administration officials violated the state’s ethics law when they used the State Police last summer to gather travel documents they hoped would tarnish Joseph L. Bruno, then the State Senate majority leader, according…
There’s been a lot of analysis of the Joe Biden-Sarah Palin debate. I think that any honest assessment of the debate reveals that Sarah Palin lost this debate. She lost in a number of ways. She lost the debate on substance. She lost the debate on style. Finally, she didn’t answer most of the questions. Gwen Ifill states, “She blew me off.”
On at least 10 occasions, Palin gave answers that were nonspecific, completely generic, pivoted away from the question at hand, or simply ignored it: on global warming, an Iraq exit strategy, Iran and Pakistan, Iranian diplomacy, Israel-Palestine (and a follow-up), the nuclear trigger, interventionism, Cheney’s vice presidency and her own greatest weakness.
If you really don’t know that much, then your best defense is smiling and repeating talking points. Sarah Palin has proven that even after a lot of preparation, she doesn’t know much.

Over the last several weeks Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) has demonstrated a lack of knowledge about critical public policy issues. She claimed that the recently approved Wall Street bailout would “help those who are concerned about health care reform,” could not name a single newspaper or magazine that she regularly reads, and failed to provide a single Supreme Court decision besides Roe v. Wade with which she disagrees.
As The Progress Report documented on Friday, Palin’s lack of knowledge was also on display during last Thursday’s vice presidential debate. Palin’s repeated false claims and revealing misstatements have several prominent members of the conservative establishment worried. On this morning’s political talk shows, they voiced their concerns:
– David Brooks on CBS’s Face the Nation: “I don’t think she’s qualified to be President… I prefer someone who’s read a few more books.”
– Peggy Noonan on NBC’s Meet the Press: “I think she showed that she is a women of great and natural competence about the show business of politics. … There are questions about other areas. … Would Lincoln say, ‘I represent the backwoods types?’”
– Kathleen Parker on CNN’s Reliable Sources: “I do think we gave her a pass up front. And when I say ‘we,’ I’m just talking about people associated with the more conservative side.”
Tenacious, Yes, but Forget the Lipstick At her daughter’s school in Silver Spring, three people asked Colleen Thompson about her lipstick one day — not that she was wearing any.
The Hollywood Liberal is an anti-war, anti republican, from right here beautiful Hollywood California.
This site was originally started to help get The Worst President Ever G.W. Bush Jr. Out of office. Now that we have accomplished that
the goal is to get Obama to start acting like a Democrat, and not an butt kissing Republican Wannabee. We will continue to fight for that goal
