Cronkite/Eight Poll: McCain Could Lose Arizona
A new Cronkite/Eight Poll in Arizona shows Sen. John McCain leads Sen. Barack Obama by just two points, 46% to 44%.
Said poll director Bruce Merrill: “Obama has been closing the gap by attracting independents and women to his campaign. McCain does well among conservative Democrats and evangelicals. Still, a week is a long time in a political campaign and anything can happen. Who wins will be determined by which candidate gets their supporters out to the polls on Election Day.”
These results are similar to two polls released yesterday that also showed a tight race in McCain’s home state.

Singing again after a thirty year hiatus, Grammy nominated singer, Howard Tate, performing, Louisiana 1927. Music and images which should remind us all why we need to take the time now and ask our Republican neighbors, friends and family members for their consideration before they vote. It’s not over until inauguration day.

McCain: ?I Don?t Know? If Obama?s Policies Amount To Communism

Last July, when asked if Barack Obama is a socialist, John McCain replied, “I don’t know.” But now McCain seems to be fairly certain Obama is a socialist. After all, his campaign has spent the past couple weeks trying to scare Americans into believing that Obama’s economic policies amount to socialism.
Yesterday during an interview with a local Miami CBS affiliate, McCain took his skepticism of Obama’s political and economic philosophies further, expressing uncertainty as to whether Obama is a communist:
Q: Florida Senator Mel Martinez talked about Barack Obama’s “spread the wealth” policies and he described them as “communism.” Is that fair?
MCCAIN: Hmmm, I don’t know what label you put on it but clearly its not the way to economic prosperity.
Also during the interview, when the reporter noted that the Tax Policy Center concluded that Obama’s tax plan gives more to “middle income Americans,” McCain falsely claimed that “is simply not true.” Watch it:
McCain is wrong. The non-partisan Tax Policy Center did indeed find that “Obama would give larger tax cuts to low- and moderate-income households.” In fact, for most Americans, Obama’s plan would offer three times the benefit.
At the same time, McCain’s tax plan heavily favors big corporations and the wealthy. Indeed, a recent analysis by the Center for American Progress Action Fund found that John and Cindy McCain would have saved $730,000 over 2006 and 2007 under McCain’s tax plan.
But seeing that McCain’s policies have little to offer the average American, it seems he is now forced to acquiesce to the fringe right wing talking point that Obama just might be a Marxist.
