Pentagon Delays Release of May Recruiting Data.

Excerpt: Asked whether the move would simply delay the release of bad news, Krenke said, "That's not necessarily true," noting that "we expect the numbers to improve during the summer months

H.L.s Take: Time for some report doctoring. Don't be surprised when the numbers come out on the 10th, that they are suddenly much higher. Come on people see, others are signing up, now join the herd, and sign on the dotted line. As for The comment that recruiting will increase during the summer, sure. OK lets see, I can take a summer vacation, have a barbecue, go to a baseball game, and hit the beach looking for waves, and chicks...Or I could go get my ass shot off in Iraq, Tough choice I know.

Iraq protester clocks up four hellish years on Blair's doorstep

Excerpt: LONDON (AFP) - It's been exactly four years since Brian Haw set up his ramshackle peace camp in the little park across the street from the Houses of Parliament in London, and he says he's hated every single minute of it. Each day, since June 2, 2001, the father of seven has gained what little sleep he could, with Big Ben as his alarm clock, surrounded by protest signs and horrific images of war

When War Goes Off the Script A Week of Shock and Awe

Excerpt: The news this past week has been especially hard to believe. First we learned, courtesy of Edmunds, the car magazine, that the Bush administration has decided to equip the occupation forces in Iraq with Chrysler minivans, in place of GM's Humvee gas hogs. This is a low blow to General Motors, which only days earlier saw its bonds reduced to junk status by the ratings agencies largely because of the company's moronically short-sighted decision to focus on gas-guzzling SUVs like the Hummer. It's more than a little ironic that Bush--a guy who has spent his oil-stained career mocking those who call for federal laws to mandate better gas mileage from Detroit automakers--would make a major purchase decision (we're talking about a 25,000- vehicle order here) based upon fuel economy. It's also worth noting that these Pentagon-bound Chrysler minivans will all be made in Canada, while the Humvee is made in the good old USA

Deep Throat Cover Blown Washington Post Still Sucks

Excerpt: Think about it. It's been 33 years since cub reporters Woodward and Bernstein pulled down the pants of the Nixon operation and exposed its tie-in to the Watergate burglary. That marks a third of a century since the Washington Post has broken a major investigative story. I got a hint why there's been such a dry spell after I met Mark Hosenball, investigative reporter for the Washington Post's magazine, Newsweek. It was in the summer of 2001. A few months earlier, for the Guardian papers of Britain, I'd discovered that Katherine Harris and Governor Jeb Bush of Florida had removed tens of thousands of African-Americans from voter registries before the 2000 election, thereby fixing the race for George Bush. Hosenball said the Post-Newsweek team "looked into it and couldn't find anything."

French and Dutch Patriots Rout the New World Order

Excerpt: Within the space of less than a week, the beast-men who arrogantly run the Europe Union out of a sense of natural entitlement and intellectual superiority, licking their chops at the prospect of Europe's first real head of state with potent executive powers and a triumphant expansionary agenda, have fallen from their over-world abode of studied indifference and invulnerability into a pit of unfathomable despair.

Dean: GOP Has 'Dark, Difficult and Dishonest Vision'

Excerpt: Dean concluded his speech with an admonition to Democrats who might shy away from the liberal label. "The one thing that we have to do as a Democratic Party is not be afraid to be different than the Republicans. Stand up for what we believe in," he said to a standing ovation.

The Downing Street Memo

Excerpt: Along with 88 of my colleagues, I wrote to the President requesting answers about this grave matter. Thus far, our search for the truth has been stonewalled and I need your help. I believe the American people deserve answers about this matter and should demand directly that the President tell the truth about the memo. To that end, I am asking you to sign on to a letter to the President requesting he answer the questions posed to him by 89 Members of Congress. I will personally insure that this letter is delivered to the White House.
