Senate Delays Vote on Gonzales Nomination

By JESSE J. HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer
Break out the whips, and chains WASHINGTON - With the threat of a Democratic filibuster receding,
H.L.s Take: What?, Why is that? Oh I get it, the Bush bootlicking Democrats, oops sorry, I mean Republicrats, have put on their little dog, and pony show, for the voters. Now its time to get down to the business of making the Republican party, the dominant force on the planet.
Attorney General-designate Alberto Gonzales must still wait for Senate confirmation to be the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the land. Democrats concerned about Gonzales' role in developing Bush administration policy on prisoners taken in the war on terrorism had indicated they might use parliamentary delaying tactics in an attempt to thwart his ascension.
Sure they talked about it, but then, they "talk" about a lot of things don't they
But that talk dissipated Tuesday. Yes it dissipated, like a cloud of Hot air, coming from the nether regions of the Democrats ass.
Now, Republican senators say a vote on whether to approve Gonzales was not happening Wednesday, in part because Democrats don't want to give President Bush a success to tout in his State of the Union speech.
Wow, those vicious attack dogs, They are so brave, and strong. Now they have pissed off master by making him wait. No milk bones tonight
"They want the bully pulpit all the way up to and after that to try to taint this nominee with the perceived sins of the Bush administration," said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
and as is now the policy at The H.L. Whenever the Pansy Democrats speak about not fighting back It is printed in Pink, for the Pansies, or Pussys that they are.
The Senate won't vote on the nomination until at least Thursday. The Senate's top Democrat said Tuesday, Democrats won't try to filibuster Gonzales' nomination, but will hold extensive debate over his role in developing the Bush administration's policies on foreign detainees.
Oh yeah the debates will be quite intense, they are going to ask "questions", really hard ones, then they will roll over for master and vote to confirm, becuase we wouldn't want to do somehting disobedient like have a filibuster, no that would be wrong
"There will be an up-or-down vote" and no blockage, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada told reporters after the Democrats huddled for their weekly planning session. Democratic opposition to Gonzales derives from the nominee's involvement in the formulation of a number of policies that have tarnished our country's moral leadership in the world and put American soldiers and American citizens at greater risk," Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said during Senate debate Tuesday. "I'm confident that Judge Gonzales will be confirmed with bipartisan support," Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said. "And I'm confident that as attorney general, Judge Gonzales will continue to build on the successes of the last four years that we've seen in reducing crime and in fighting corporate fraud
Yep Just ask Martha, those boys stopped all that corporate fraud stuff cold. All that Ken Lay, Enron, Tyco, World com stuff, well you were supposed to have forgotten about that because we Republicans think you are all a bunch of brain dead fools, you voted for us after all, ha ha, and upholding our civil rights laws." Yep, just ask those cops in Inglewood who got caught on tape beating up a black kid, and were awarded Millions of Dollars for their trouble.
Reid predicted that at least 25 or 30 Democrats would vote against Gonzales but said "there was a decision made not to filibuster." A filibuster, a parliamentary tactic for delaying Senate action, would require Republicans, who hold a 55-44 majority in the Senate, to win over at least five Democrats
Actually only 4. Lieberman's already in the bag, no matter what the Republicans want. And you know theres at least 4 more who would go along, think Biden, Hillary, then you only need 2. to gain the 60 votes needed to end debate and then confirm Gonzales.

Schieffer set to fill Rather's CBS seat

This is the whore who moderated the final debate, the one I thought Bush had the answers for in advance, (And still lost) Heres an H.L. flashback from 10/16/04
Lets open up the mail bagfrom David F.

Subject: Wake Up and Smell The Schieffers

This is in response to the story that I wrote yesterday. "Final Debate: Did Bush Have The Questions (& Answers) In Advance?

H.L.

Not only is Bob Schieffer a Bush supporter, his brother is A/ Bush's former business partner in the Rangers and other companies, and B/ Bush's U.S. Ambassador to Australia!!!!! Yes, H.L., that's why I was appalled when the commission picked Schieffer to moderate -- the most clearly personally compromised of the big media people. Don't you recall four years ago when Schieffer used to begin each show with the disclaimer about his brother and Bush? Then he stopped. Did Bush have the question from the brother of an official in his administration? Hell, yes.

H.L. Responds

David, Thanks for writing in. Yep I smelt this one coming as soon as I knew there was a connection. Keep in touch. H.L.

End Flashback.
Don't watch CBS News, what a bunch of monkeybutt lickers. First they set up Rather when he tries to expose the truth about Bush, Then they replace him with a Bush insider who can lie about it all.

4 Networks Reject Ad Opposing Bush on Lawsuits

Excerpt: WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 - An advocacy group, USAction, said on Monday that four television networks had turned down its request to run an advertisement opposing President Bush's effort to clamp down on medical malpractice lawsuits. The group wanted to run the spots just before Mr. Bush's State of the Union address on Wednesday. But networks said the advertisement violated their standards for advertising on controversial issues.
