Obama Ditches Press
From the pool report:
Finally, some drama from Obama: The president-elect eluded the pool at 3:21 pm by leaving transition offices 24 minutes before the afternoon pool call. He was home before the pool fully assembled, according to the ever-helpful Katie Lillie, whose fault this was not.
No word on why the early day. The rain was threatening to freeze, though.

Last night in New York, ABC News correspondent John Donovan moderated a debate between the Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol, former Bush aide Karl Rove, Slate editor Jacob Weisberg and Guardian columnist Sir Simon Jenkins. The most contentious part of the debate came during discussion over the invasion of Iraq, in which Kristol proclaimed outright that the United States has won:
But [Kristol] and Mr. Rove both maintained that while the initial occupation was mismanaged, the surge of troops begun in 2007 has placed the U.S. on the cusp of victory in Iraq.
“We’ve won the war,” Mr. Kristol said.
Kristol did not say if this meant that all U.S. troops could now come home.

Giving Up on God (Sort Of)

Giving Up on God (Sort Of)
Do we need God in politics? Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker recently penned a provocative column titled “Giving Up on God,” wherein she suggested that the Republican Party ditch G-O-D. The piece so rankled James Dobson (Ph.D. in divine insight) that he compared Parker to that seditious bum Benedict Arnold. Among factions of conservatism, there is a general willingness to coexist and — sporadically — win elections. Dobson, conversely, employs a saintly litmus test that marginalizes large swaths of his own party. He has redefined “traditional values,” an essential ingredient for Republican victory, to mean illogical rigidity.
