Get ready for $4 gasoline

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — With gas prices near record highs, experts say $4-a-gallon gasoline is just around the corner.

“I think it’s going to happen,” said Phil Flynn, a senior market analyst at Alaron Trading in Chicago. “Unless things change dramatically, I think we’re going to see $4 a gallon.”

As pump prices set new record, experts say demand and refining problems could push them to $4 in many parts of the country. Is relief in sight?
Already, prices in California average $3.48 a gallon, according to the motorist organization AAA. And one service station in San Francisco was charging $3.95, according to GasBuddy.com, a handy site that lists the cheapest and most expensive gas stations by city and state across the country.

and Mississippi, oil prices go up. The war will drag on for another 26 years, and oil prices go up. Bush takes a walk hand in hand with Prince Abdullah, through a field of daisies, and oil prices spike up again. Dick Cheney, decides that Halliburton did not make enough triple digit profits last month, and oil prices go up.
What is with oil prices going up every time the wind changes directions? As you well know, unless you have been living in a cave, oil prices are at an all time high, the price for a gallon of premium in Los Angeles in now hovering at about 3.15 a gallon. In 3 days the big Labor Day weekend begins, with experts predicting that just as many if not more people will be on the road despite the ridiculously high prices. AAA says that 30 Million travelers will take to the nations highways this weekend.
As I travel the Freeways, and streets of L.A. I see as usual that half the vehicles on the road are SUVs.

It’s easy to predict the futrue with Bush in office. Just imagine the worst possible scenario, and predict it. Comes true every time.

FEINGOLD TO PROPOSE LEGISLATION IN NEW SPENDING BILL TO END WAR, CUT OFF FUNDING

In a statement just sent to The BRAD BLOG, Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) says he is prepared to up the ante in the fight with the White House in light of Bush’s spending bill veto, and will be proposing that war funding be cut off by a date certain as part of the next spending bill sent to the White House.

Feingold adds that his previously proposed legislation, known as the Feingold-Reid Bill (S. 1077), had a number of co-sponsors already on board in the Senate, and that the same language would be used for his proposed amendment to the Senate’s new supplemental spending bill.

His statement just in to The BRAD BLOG:
“With brave Americans fighting and dying for a failed policy in Iraq, members of Congress shouldn’t delay action to end this misguided war for weeks or even months just for the sake of political comfort. That is why, when the Senate takes up the Iraq supplemental, I plan to offer the Feingold-Reid bill as an amendment to force the President to safely redeploy our troops by March 31, 2008 at which point funding for the war would be cut off.”

U.S. Apologizes to Families for Killing Afghan Civilians

WASHINGTON, May 8 — An Army commander apologized and paid compensation on Tuesday to families of Afghan civilians killed by marines after a suicide attack in March, marking the first formal acknowledgment by American authorities that the killings were unjustified.

Col. John Nicholson, an Army brigade commander in eastern Afghanistan, met on Tuesday with the families of the 19 Afghans killed and 50 wounded when a Marines special operations unit opened fire along a crowded stretch of road near Jalalabad after a suicide bomber in a vehicle rammed their convoy.

“I stand before you today, deeply, deeply ashamed and terribly sorry that Americans have killed and wounded innocent Afghan people,” Colonel Nicholson said, recounting to reporters the words he used in the meetings. Speaking in a videoconference to reporters at the Pentagon, he added: “We made official apologies on the part of the U.S. government” and paid $2,000 for each death.

The incident is already the subject of a criminal investigation by the Pentagon. But the decision to issue a public apology now reflects the militarys growing concern that a spate of recent civilian casualties have led to widespread ill will among Afghans and could jeopardize military operations.

“Anytime we’re responsible for the loss of innocent life, we understand that that hurts our ability to accomplish the mission,” Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, said Tuesday.

Offering payments to relatives of victims is considered by the American military as vital in allaying anger among civilians in both Afghanistan and Iraq, where the military regularly makes payments when it kills noncombatants.

$2000 for every death of an innocent. Bush must figure that with us spending Billions every week that we can kill a hell of a lot of innocent people then just hit them with the 2Gs and they will be happy that the war came through there part of town. And stupid people wonder why all these “Terrorists” and “Al Quaida” hate us. Pretty arrogant to think that 2000 dollars makes up for killing your family. If this happened to you when a foreign country came in and started killing your family, you might be pissed off enough to want to try to take out a few of them too. The best thing we can do to get these people to stop hating us is to just leave. Right now.
