Limiting Free Speech and the Internet: When the Oligarchy Loses Control

Progressive Daily Beacon
Excerpt:

A. Alexander, December 10th, 2006

The realization that they are losing control and are no longer able to dominate the debate has led Newt Gingrich, Donald Rumsfeld, and even George W. Bush to begin discussing the need to limit free speech — usually linking it to nefarious and nonexistent “threats” — and limiting access to the internet. Corporations are threatened by this new medium because it allows common people to counter moneyed influence and too, levels the information playing field. It is no longer a game of who has more money to spend on public relations, spin, and outright lies; with the internet it is simply a matter of who has the information. These powerful interests are beginning to realize that the internet amplifies the voices — specifically Progressive voices — that they had always been able to suppress through corporate media control.

The thing that scares today’s corporations and their pocketed politicians is the fact that Progressive ideas, now that they have finally been made available to the general population, are being embraced by a majority of the people. The dissemination of Progressive ideas via the internet has begun to completely undo forty years of the Oligarchic-wing of the GOP and their cynical employment of religion in what they branded a “culture war.”

The so-called culture war has been a carefully constructed scheme in which the Oligarchy-controlled Republican Party employed religious-based political wedge issues in a manner that actually convinced working people, especially the working poor, to vote Republican. What the Oligarchs were doing, having found a way to con working people into voting Republican, was swindling the average citizen into supporting corporate policies that almost always undermined the peoples’ own best interest. By the end of the Republicans’ “culture war,” they had refined their use of pseudo-religious wedge issues to the point that they could sell wars based on trumped up intelligence. Incredibly, through the use of these pseudo-religious wedge issues, Republicans had even managed to convince their supporters to sacrifice their kids to the Gods of War; all for nothing more than securing profits for big oil and war-based business interests like Halliburton, KBR, and others.

The people, of course, were led to believe that they were sacrificing their children in the name of something akin to a new holy war.

In a very real sense the “culture war” was diabolically genius. The Republican Party was never going to alter their philosophy and do something that benefited the working class or the working poor. The Republicans were always and will forever be prostitutes for their corporate masters. Manipulating the peoples’ most cherished religious beliefs allowed Oligarchy-supporting Republicans to override everything, including a person’s hunger and the welfare of their children.

Now H.L., you know better than that! People vote republican because they are convinced democrats are weak on national security! They dont have to be persuaded! The democrats do enough persuading them themselves with their votes against military weapons systems! The working poor keep voteing republican because people like John Kerry keep calling them ignorant! Then they want to raise our taxes!

H.L., I think democrats employed economic and antiwar based political wedge issues in a manner that actually convinced the lazy non working poor to vote democrat! As well as the richer-than thou- hollywood idiots who try to talk down to me! Ya know???? ha ha ha ha ha ha Buck out…More to come stay tuned

  4. Buck Says:

On October 26, 1967, McCain’s A-4 Skyhawk was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile, landing in Truc Bach Lake. He broke both arms and a leg after ejecting from his plane. After he regained consciousness, a mob gathered around him and stripped him of his clothing. He was then tortured by Vietnamese soldiers, who bayonetted him in his left foot and groin. His shoulder was crushed by a rifle butt. He was then transported to the Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the Hanoi Hilton.[6]

  5. Buck Says:

    Whats up H.L.???

  6. Buck Says:

History of the Republican Party of Texas
Without a doubt, Texas is the strongest Republican state in the nation. The people of Texas have entrusted Republicans with the stewardship of every statewide elected office and majorities in the state senate, state house and on the state board of education. Republicans now have majorities in 73 Texas counties that contain nearly two-thirds of the state’s population. And Texas’ own President George W. Bush currently occupies the White House

  7. Buck Says:

Throughout the world people dare to dream of freedom, of opportunity, of a beautiful country in which to grow, to raise their family, to worship God in their own way without fear. The embodiment of that dream is America. And within America, people dare to dream of achieving, of becoming somebody better, served and protected by, not encumbered by, government, constantly nourished by faith and family, thriving in a free market, and helping others through charity of giving and serving. The embodiment of the Conservative Dream in America is Texas. Our Texas. It is we who strive to protect our culture from destruction, our children from predators and drugs, and our dear country from those who would destroy it. It is we who defend the embattled traditions that made our nation the greatest in all recorded history.

    1. We respect and cherish the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and our Founders’ intent to restrict the power of the federal government over the states and the people. We believe self-government, based on personal integrity of a proper moral foundation, is the best government. This is best balanced with limited civil government, coupled with public trust, to provide collectively for the people those services not efficiently achieved individually.

    2. We believe that human life is sacred, created in the image of God. Life begins at the moment of fertilization and ends at the point of natural death. All innocent human life must be protected.

    3. We believe that good government is based on the individual, and each person’s ability, dignity, freedom, and responsibility must be honored and recognized. We believe equal opportunity is a right and a privilege but equal outcome is not. We insist that no one’s rights are negotiable and that individual freedom demands personal responsibility.

    4. We believe that government spending is out of control and needs to be reduced. We support fundamental, immediate tax reform that is simple, fair, and fully disclosed. We commend President George W. Bush’s principled stand to reduce taxes and stimulate the economy.

    5. We believe that traditional marriage is a legal and moral commitment between a natural man and a natural woman. We recognize that the family is the foundational unit of a healthy society and consists of those related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The family is responsible for its own welfare, education, moral training, conduct, and property,

    6. We believe that a well-educated population is fundamental to the continued success of our Republic; and that parents have the right, as well as the duty, to direct their children’s education. This right should include choices among public, private, home and religious schools. Competition improves education.

    7. We believe that the future of our country depends upon a strong and vibrant private sector unencumbered by excessive government regulation.

    8. We believe that a strong America ensures a free America. While we recognize that our nation is the primary leader in the global community, we must also vigorously protect the sovereignty of the United States.

    9. We believe in peace through strength. We take a principled stand to preemptively defend the citizens of the United States against all foes, foreign or domestic, whose goal is to destroy our American way of life. Freedom is never free, and we honor all those who have served our nation to protect our liberty, especially our men and women in uniform, who unselfishly and courageously defend our country.

    10. We believe all Americans have the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities. We support enforcement of the laws through the Courts imposing swift and sure justice with stiff penalties, truth in sentencing, and respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens, while opposing judicial activism.

“We pray God Bless Texas. God Bless the U.S.A. God bless us all!”

  8. Travis Says:

That is really a terrific article. I have been saying the same thing for a while, but most members of my family are the same people who attend NRA meetings and preach politics from the pulpit in church. Its scary how far the right will go to get a vote, especially taking advantage of anothers beliefs……and the left is godless?

  9. LA Says:

Since you never wrote it, why post it? You give no reference to anything you post, as usual.

Just reading the first lines of your copy and paste, you don’t subscribe to any of that. i wouldn’t put you in the category of “patriot.” You’re a propagandist at best and with very little imagination.

  10. Buck Says:

    To LA:

    ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

  11. Buck Says:

LA, the more I think about it the more I think you are stupid for saying it! Who cares if I did not write it! I damn sure feel it! Now, true I think SOME of our drug laws are way to strict! The laws surrounding one in particular are especially strict. “Just reading the first lines of your cut and paste you dont subscribe to any of that” So tooshay LA, you have found my one and only liberal position! That being said, you take another look at the Texas preamble I put up there! Aside from the single issue in question, I SUBSCRIBE TO THAT! What are you suggesting?? Lets get to the business of arguing over what about that you disagree with and why!

Now the whole purpose of me putting that Texas preamble on the board was to prove H.L wrong as to the reasons poor people (especially in the south) vote republican! Noone that votes republican votes republican because they are mis-lead! Damn it to hell we dont like democrats! Texas and the rest of the red states are filled with poor people! Rich, middle class, and poor most ALL voting republican for the reasons outlined in the Texas preamble! Why the TEXAS preamble??? Because Texas is the leader of the red states! Lots of people around the nation feel as Texans do, its just there are a high concentration of red blooded american voters in this great state! Later LA! Buck out!!!

  12. SA Says:

LA! This is SA! My question to you: Why do communist leaders in North Korea and China support democratic nominees in United States presidential electiouns?

  13. SA Says:

    Goodnight men and mice!

  14. SA Says:

I believe LA is scared to attempt to ask me a legitimate question. Maybe LA is having to do some research to come up with one. This is the first day I’ve had off in 20; believe I’ll shower and have breakfast and I’ll check back. Oh yeah its that time of the month to remove the “stank” I hate to imagine the “stank” IMZ carries around especially if she’s a Butch.

  16. Buck Says:

Top of the morning to you fellow patriot! Are you headed off to work??

  17. Buck Says:

Just getting up myself! Im going to go on a democrat slamming tirade today! So, your off today as well? SA, lets tear the board up with comments!

  18. SA Says:

How about showing the distinct advantage AIBMDS gives US homeland security. Also, the administrations responsible for its initialization and its continuance; Of’course the admin. that first cut military spending claimed the threat of nuclear capabilitiies reaching our homeland was RECEDING and the voters ate it up and re-elected the silver tongued speaker. I believe you have newspaper articles proving this is true. How effective could this system be if it hadn’t been shut down for 8 yrs? It may be that this is not only a delay but a set back as well. If the def. system money is taken away again what are the chances it will ever be effective?

  19. Buck Says:

It would die! Missile defense would be gone forever! We could turn out the lights because the party would be over!! Damn shame aint it!! It is what the democrats want!

  20. SA Says:

I know that the liberal view on military spending is a legitimate reason for freedom seeking people to strongly disagree with that view. Their nasty and ungodly habits do have an effect and are horribly supported to infiltrate the innocent minds of young people. Hello brain cells if a group supports sodomy and murder; Do you really want that group defending your country?

  21. Buck Says:

They got about as much since as a broke dick dog!

  22. Buck Says:

CAIRO, Egypt – Sen. John Kerry, on a Mideast tour taking him to Damascus for talks with President Bashar Assad, said Friday that the Bush administration’s rejection of dialogue with Syria and Iran to try to calm Iraq is a mistake.

Kerry’s trip is the latest in a growing tussle between the White House and Congress over the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan panel that called for talks with Iran and Syria to win their help in stabilizing war-torn Iraq.

The Massachusetts Democrat said his visit to Syria was “a fact-finding mission” to explore “what might or might not affect behavior with respect to Hezbollah, Lebanon, Israel and Iraq, where in each of those cases Syria is playing a role.”

John Kerry wants America to care why Hezzbollah and Al Qaida kills Israelis and Americans! He wants to set down to ‘consider’ and ‘listen’ to the Jihadists!

Now that is ‘stanky’ if there ever was stank!

  23. LA Says:

SA ==> Why don’t you answer the question yourself. The same reason the Likud supports candidates in this country. Now why do you think that is?

  24. Buck Says:

SA, I could slam LA easily on this but I will let you take him!

  25. SA Says:

Thank you LA for finally responding:
No need to answer my own question; Now you want to know why I think the reason a communist party supporting a democratic nominee would be the same reason a democratic party would support a democratic nominee. It couldn’t be for the same reason. Too many people expect too much from our gov’t rather than just working hard and paying taxes while enjoying the freedom to compete and if you make more money and move into a higher tax bracket oh well you’re still making much more because that freedom called free enterprise exists due to people willing to fight or even die if necessary to extend that right to their kids. If we continue to cut military spending these priviledges will disappear. Thanks alot!

  26. Village Says:

    Hey, people Im still here!

  27. LA Says:

SA ==> Why no need to answer your own question? Regarding communists, did you know that a large portion of the IDF is Russian?

Regarding people willing to fight, we see that every day in the news when you see blood on the streets. Is that always for freedom or just a military paycheck?

I buy the argument that you make money, build your enterprise, spend nothing on tax, cut military funding to domestic levels. The USA has enough military resource to defend itself from any country.

The reason why I pay taxes is because the undisciplined US Congress failed to do its job. They approved most funding for an illegal war that reaps nothing to my budget. It’s all based on lies.

Are you saying that you’ll keep paying more taxes?

And no, I don’t think my children’s freedom will disappear when we have 1-2 less wars.

  28. LA Says:

Buck ==> Loonies like you are the ones calling for war. You cry “freedom”, “jihadists”, “communists”, “democrats”, and so on. It’s the usual name calling, but never one word from your type about peace. Do you know what PEACE means? Probably not because i can’t recall you ever using the word.

You truly don’t give a rat’s ass about freedom or democracy. Can you cut and paste one of your posts that state anything close to that?

Go ahead Buck, post all the BS you want, but we all know what you stand for. NOTHING.

  29. onthefence Says:

our childrens freedoms are disappearing. the american people are being duped into handing it over to the government on a silver platter.

  30. Buck Says:

LA. Did you know that there were Americans in the IDF ? Jews from around the world, especially Russia are flocking to the holy land! I had a good friend named Yehuda who was a jew that worked on my crew at Fiesta texas in San Antonio! He wore his funny little hat all the time. He travled back and forth alot from San Antonio to Tel Aviv!

LA. I want to see you post right here right now that you are for jihad against Israel!

  31. Outlaw Says:

LA do you think that the people of Iraq want to be free? If not than why did they vote for a government of their own and go out and get things that they were never allowed to have. You and HL and others have been running around saying that the US needs to talk to Syria and Iran over and over. Well the sad part is that the US did talk to Syria in 03 and other times and Syria agreed to help out in Iraq and than did nothing.

The statement which was read at the UN Security Council yesterday by Syria’s representative at the UN Mikhael Wahba stressed that Syria stands by the necessity for ending the occupation of Iraq and for enabling the Iraqi people to form a legitimate national government according to a time table as soon as possible.
LA did you also know that there are 6 states that are listed as giving aid to terrorism. six nations are listed as state sponsors of terrorism by the State Department. And your buddy Clinton put #6 on there. Oh and the list was started in 1979. They are Cuba, Iran, Iraq, which Bush is getting taken off now, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.
That was in the USA Today Posted 8/19/2003 9:50 PM
No were in there does the US have Israel or Russia or China or any were else listed and to think they have been on there since 79 how bout that. Guess Iran and Syria aren’t nice as people think. But than most people think that history starts from the day they were born and doesn’t go back any futher than that.
As for HL’s artcle here about the Oligarchs I guess he and the person think that the Rich are the ones running the government. If that’s the case than the Democrats are just as bad if not worse than the Republicans for this. If they are saying that the people in Office are the Oligarchs than they need to learn the deffination of the word because they are using it wrong.
The word oligarch describes the significant influence such wealthy people may have on the life of a state. Oh and it can from Russia just in case you want to know.

  32. onthefence Says:

hey outlaw you think you know everything don’t you? You are an informed individual, but your judgement is lacking a little thing called common sense! I see the government has brain-washed you just like it set out to do. Congratulations! You can rest peacefully knowing you are in good hands!

  33. Buck Says:

Hey onthefence! Maybe you should change your net-name to leaningtotheleftsideofthefence!
I wonder how many people Mrs.(Regulatus, taxatus, dictatus) Hillary will brainwash into voting for her???
Senator Clinton Believes Government Should Control Private Business
On October 25, Senator Clinton delivered a speech to the conference of the Cleantech Venture Network. In this speech, Senator Clinton stated:

…ensure that we re-invest the tremendous drain that higher energy prices are exacting on middle-class families and the economy in a better energy future…
Anybody have a clue what that government double speak really means? I’m betting it’s another redistribution of wealth strategy. But of course, in perfect fairness. Let’s listen a little further.

I believe that we need to assess the oil companies an alternative energy development fee to be put into the new Strategic Energy Fund
Ok….so how’s the government going do that? Where’s that fee going to come from? Shhh…listen:
…so it is taken solely out of unanticipated profits from the sky-high oil prices and ensure that it is not passed on to consumers.
Say what? What exactly is an “unanticipated profit” and why would the government develop a fee based on an unexpected source? Secondarily, how is the GOVERNMENT going to “ensure that it is not passed on to consumers”? In case you don’t already know, businesses don’t pay taxes. YOU DO! Whenever there’s an increase in fees or taxes for businesses, these increases ultimately get passed on to the end consumer. (For an EXTREMELY good explanation of all of this, please read Neal Boortz’s book The FairTax Book.)

This “fee” of course would be temporary:
…temporary, lasting just long enough to kickstart the alternative energy market that we all know is out there.
We…which we? Look, if alternative energy sources were profitable, don’t you think companies would be developing products and services as quickly as possible?

Finally, at the bottom of all of this the truth comes out. It’s all about taxes.
…reform our energy taxes so that large oil companies which reap huge benefits over the next two years will pay a portion of their profits to fund new tax incentives for consumers and companies who want to do what we believe is the right thing…

What WHO believes is the right thing? Ohhhh, I get it, because Senator Clinton believes that alternative energy is the “right thing”, that perfectly justifies a new tax…excuse me, fee to prop up this energy. Does this sound like the whole government subsidized Ethanol program going on today?

Just remember this in 2008. Anything Senator Clinton deems as “the right thing” or “good for the people”, will become part of her campaign platform to increase your dependency on the government. Willingly or Unwillingly.

I mean to tell you! Buck out!!

  34. John Smith Says:

Have heard from it before, but is indeed a very good comment. Thanks.
