Students Dropping Out of High School Reaches Epidemic Levels
ABC
Excerpt:
Nov. 20, 2006 — In several of the largest school systems across the country — from Baltimore to Cleveland to Atlanta and Oakland, Calif. — half of the students are dropping out.
And the problem is not only in the big cities.
The implications from dropping out of high school are enormous, including a higher risk of poverty and even an abbreviated life span.
H.L.s Take:
So what is our education President going to do about this? Absolutely Nothing. More drop outs equals more volunteers for the U.S. Military, and they need all the volunteers they can get. “Hey Kids, don’t worry about school, there will always be a job waiting for you in the U.S. Army, you can explore strange new lands like Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Just keep on watching American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars, don’t worry about studying. We’ll be here when you turn 18. Sincerly George W. Bush. Commander-in-chief. U.S. Armed Forces.

So much for priorities in the US. But yet, we don’t blink an eye when we spend trillions of dollars on war throughout the world. Wonder what schools make from that?
