President Obama evidently was caught by surprise by the scandal at the Department of Veterans Affairs. So, apparently, was VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, who evidently took at face value the corrupt VA statistics — and who, after a distinguished military career, resigned last week. I rarely find myself in disagreement with John Kass, whom I consider one of America’s preeminent columnists, and a friend. But this week John missed the mark in his column seeking an explanation for the inexplicable: the horrific stabbing of a 12-year-old Wisconsin girl by two of her classmates.
