A new Quinnipiac poll in Virginia finds President Obama just edges Rick Perry in a general election match up, 44% to 42%, but loses to Mitt Romney, 44% to 42%.
Said pollster Peter Brown: “At this point Romney and Perry both are in a horse race against President Barack Obama, challenging Romney’s ‘electability’ argument. The big difference is among independent voters, where Romney holds a solid 44% to 35% lead, and Perry is in a 40% to 40% dead heat with the president.”
Robertson Says Alzheimer’s Makes Divorce Fine
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson told viewers that divorcing a spouse with Alzheimer’s is justifiable because the disease is “a kind of death,” the AP reports.
Giving advice to a caller: “I know it sounds cruel, but if he’s going to do something, he should divorce her and start all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her.”
Most Blame Republicans for Ineffectiveness
A new Bloomberg poll finds most unhappy Americans blame Republicans for the current problems in Washington.
The survey shows that 20% of respondents blame President Obama, 19% blame congressional Democrats while 45% pinned responsibility on congressional Republicans.
Perry Leads Romney in Latest Poll
A new Bloomberg poll finds Rick Perry edging Mitt Romney in the Republican presidential race, 26% to 22%, with all of the other Republican candidates get less than 10%.
Said pollster Ann Selzer: “Perry leads in the primary contest in part because some of his most famous stands don’t turn off the primary electorate all that much. In the general election, these issues will matter more.”
In general election match ups, President Obama leads Perry by 9 points, 49% to 40%, and tops Romney by 5 points, 48% to 43%.
