Romney Still Leads the Pack
A new Fox News poll finds Mitt Romney leading the GOP presidential primary with 18%, followed by Rick Perry at 13%, Michele Bachmann at 11%, Rudy Giuliani at 10%, Sarah Palin at 8%, Ron Paul at 7% and Herman Cain at 5%.
All other candidates get less than 5% of the vote.
Dead Heat in Virginia’s U.S. Senate Race
A new Quinnipiac poll in Virginia finds Tim Kaine with “a scant, statistically insignificant” one-point edge over George Allen, 43% to 42%.
Key finding: “More than one in ten voters is undecided, despite the fact that Kaine and Allen — also a former governor of the commonwealth — are well-known figures, in part a function of Virginia’s one-term limit for governors.”
Could Utah Elect a Democrat as Governor?
If Rep. Jim Matheson (D-UT) ran for governor, a new Deseret News/KSL-TV poll finds he would give Gov. Gary Herbert (R) a tough race.
In a potential match up, Herbert leads Matheson by just three points, 48% to 45%.
Matheson has said if he doesn’t seek a seventh term he’ll run against either Herbert or Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) next year.
