Coleman Denies He’s Making a Comeback
Former Sen. Norm Coleman (R) “denied a report that he’s raising his public profile in preparation for a possible run for governor next year,” the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Coleman said “there’s nothing to” it, adding “I’m enjoying what I’m doing.”
Palin Says Obama Birth Certificate is an Issue
In an interview with conservative talk show host Rusty Humphries, Sarah Palin was asked whether she would make an issue about President Obama’s birth certificate if she ran for president in 2012.
Said Palin: “I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers… I think it’s a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records — all of that is fair game.”
GOP 12: “Is this what happens when you’ve been in an echo chamber for weeks, and think you can get away with saying anything?”
White Will Run for Texas Governor
Houston Mayor Bill White (D) will formally enter the race for Texas governor today, “instantly becoming the Democrats’ best hope of winning a statewide office in seven years,” the Houston Chronicle reports.
“White will face four opponents in the Democratic primary, and the winner of that contest will take on the victor of the Republican fight between Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and activist Debra Medina.”
