The Tattlesnake – Was Wrong Edition
“It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.” – Mark Twain In previous editions of The Tattler, some drunken idiot wrote piffle such as: “Well, it’s three days after Thanksgiving and Hillary Clinton has still not been named as Obama’s Secretary of State. I just […]

Obama Had a $400 Million Edge
The final presidential fundraising reports are in and Barack Obama’s campaign raised roughly $745 million for his 2008 presidential campaign, ABC News reports.

By comparison, Sen. John McCain raised roughly $320 million, including the $84 million from entering into the public financing system.

However, when money raised by the national parties is taken into account, the Democrats likely raised closer to one billion dollars, compared to roughly $630 million for the Republicans. Which means Obama had, approximately, a $400 million advantage over McCain.

Late Late Nite FDL: Ultimate Camp
I know everybody and their second cousin covers Hey Joe at some point in their life. That said, when I first listened to Willy Deville’s rendition I laughed almost to the point of tears, my inner rock and roller purist self felt appalled for half a minute, then quickly moved into the groove. Then I just had to listen to it a couple more times.

Helge Schneider and The Firefuckers “Hey Joe”

I know everybody and their second cousin covers Hey Joe at some point in their life. That said, when I first listened to Willy Deville’s rendition I laughed almost to the point of tears, my inner rock and roller purist self felt appalled for half a minute, then quickly moved into the groove. Then I just had to listen to it a couple more times.

If you want to know what Hey Joe meets Weird Al Yankovic at the spaghetti western sounds like, and yes, I think you really do, listen to Helge Schneider and the Firefuckers. Consider yourself warned.

What’s on your mind tonight?

The Bush family has purchased a new home in Dallas, TX, a White House spokesperson said today. While they will still own and “spend time” at their ranch in Crawford, TX, the new home fulfills the First Lady’s reported desire to return to Dallas where the family lived prior to her husband’s election as the governor of Texas. The Dallas Morning News provides this photo of the $2 million property:

Tough Times Demand Bold Action on Health Care
WASHINGTON — Here is a number easily understood by even the math-phobic: Every 1 percent increase in the unemployment rate leads to another 1.1 million Americans becoming uninsured — and causes still another million more children and adults to become eligible for state health insurance programs. This means that over the past 10 months, as the hemorrhage of jobs began to push the national unemployment rate toward its October level of 6.5 percent, about 3 million Americans were thrown off the insurance rolls or had their incomes fall so much that they became eligible for Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
