I was under the impression it was all spent a long time ago. The "funds" exchanged for IOUs. If we abolished the IRS we would have to elimate a huge part of the Federal Government. What would all those Federal employees do? They would have to find real work. I don't know if they could handle it. It would be one less government agency and eliminate a very large bureaucracy. Whether Repub, Dem or Libertarian, aren't we all Americans? What is most important is protecting our national interests. If the Repubs and Dems had a responsible fiscal policy, we wouldn't be in the debt as a country we find ourselves in. From the trillions of dollars that we owe, if seems that it's impossible to change. What I fear most is that our big government will attack Social Security as Bush already tried and siphon money out of that fund into the hands of the International Bankers. Henry Ford taught and warned us about this in the early 1920s. Although he was a capitalist, he was a true American patriot and icon. Why not abolish the IRS? The entire notion of income taxes is under scrutiny because the IRS cannot produce a statute or case law allowing it to tax the American people. So, filing your 1040 tax return is voluntary and paying federal taxes is voluntary. Paying taxes isn't what bothers me most. What bothers me most is that the tax money I pay is wasted by the Federal and State governments and I have to say. I don't get fair representation therefore, why should I pay taxes? For protection against terrorists? It always seems that every terrorist bust ends up being a frame up and the case is thrown out of court. Only after the lives of those accused have been ruined. Refusing to pay taxes will get the attention of Congress. What is the IRS or government doing to do? Throw every tax protester in prison for not paying taxes? The government is in a difficult position because they don't have any legal authority to tax the population. Therefore, not paying taxes directly affects Congress in its ability to prosecute an illegal war by funding it, puts them on notice that the taxpayer no longer is going to play the game of working 4-5 months of the year for the government as indentured servants. The only difference is the scale. In America you have more competition amongst the families and corporations. Canada, being a smaller and subservient country to America, makes itself appear independent to its population when in reality, it's all the same game.
