DeFazio asks, but he’s denied access

WASHINGTON — Oregonians called Peter DeFazio’s office, worried there was a conspiracy buried in the classified portion of a White House plan for operating the government after a terrorist attack.
As a member of the U.S. House on the Homeland Security Committee, DeFazio, D-Ore., is permitted to enter a secure “bubbleroom” in the Capitol and examine classified material. So he asked the White House to see the secret documents.
On Wednesday, DeFazio got his answer: DENIED.
“I just can’t believe they’re going to deny a member of Congress the right of reviewing how they plan to conduct the government of the United States after a significant terrorist attack,” DeFazio says.
Homeland Security Committee staffers told his office that the White House initially approved his request, but it was later quashed. DeFazio doesn’t know who did it or why.
“We’re talking about the continuity of the government of the United States of America,” DeFazio says. “I would think that would be relevant to any member of Congress, let alone a member of the Homeland Security Committee.”
Bush administration spokesman Trey Bohn declined to say why DeFazio was denied access: “We do not comment through the press on the process that this access entails. It is important to keep in mind that much of the information related to the continuity of government is highly sensitive.”

“We do not comment through the press on the process that this access entails. It is important to keep in mind that much of the information related to the continuity of government is highly sensitive.”
This sure sounds familiar. Carl Cameron of FOX News interviewed an official of the US Government about the arrest of Israelis immediately after the WTC attack and was told: “Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It’s classified information.”
Yeah right, there’s nothing to hide as the White House is transparent and really connects with America.
Folks, even when they have a smoking gun in their hand, they’ll deny everything. Can we really be this stupid to believe them? The only event that will make people understand the eminent danger Bush presents is the suspension of the US Constitution. Little by little it’s happening and it ain’t gonna get better.
Haven’t you noticed that nearly every speech Bush makes is before a military group or military unit? He doesn’t talk to Americans because he knows he’s not trusted. He cannot handle truth and confrontation. Everything he does is controlled and scripted. The press corp is completely complacent and under orders to keep questions simple and away from anything that’s controversial.
So, why would the Bush administration give any information to a low ranking US Congressman from Oregon by the name of Peter DeFazio?
What we need are bloggers that have integrity to challenge this corrupt totalitarian plague that rules Washington DC and the States.

We’re going fast down the slippery slope of tyranny.

Thank you for allowing me to post on your blog.
America is already on the “slippery slope of tyranny” because it has a government that:
– conducts an illegal war in Afghanistan and IraQ
– allows AIPAC to dominate foreign policy in Washington DC
– detains people throughout the world without legal representation or Habeas Corpus
– violates the Geneva Conventions
– rigs elections
– has a media that is controlled by corporations and families which promote and/or are silent to genocide
– allows a minority to dominate the majority
– ignores Un resolutions constantly
– takes away civil liberties every day
– does not prosecute war criminals if they’re American front men
– enacted the Patriot Act without any scrutiny
– failed to investigate 9/11 (aside from the cursory “Official 911 Commission?
– allows the Federal Reserve to continue printing bogus money
– allows the health care system to controlled by corporate insurance companies
– allows its infrastructure to become obsolete or dysfunctional
– makes the barrier to politics based upon how much money each candidate has
– lies to its people regardless of the consequence or cost
– has little regard for freedom or the Republic
I could add more items, but I’ve got to run off to work in a few minutes. Again, thanks for allowing me to post.

Friendy: Your comments are gold to my ears. I have not heard anyone mention the Federal Reserves’ role in our loss of freedoms in a long time. I was fortunate to have lived for 20 years before Nixon- that dastard Republican conservative, took us off the gold standard. For the first twenty years of my life prices remained somewhat the same. Since then the dollar has tanked along with all the other world’s currencies. Our media constantly harps on the price of oil causing prices to rise. No, the oil is not worth more; the bogus money, as you call it, is worth less, as the Fed constantly increases easy money and credit (another way to say, “printing money”).
HL: Good forum.
