Accused Al Qaeda operative can’t be jailed indefinitely, appeals court rules

LA Times
Excerpt
WASHINGTON — In a setback for the Bush administration, a federal appeals court ruled Monday that an alleged Al Qaeda operative arrested in the United States and detained in military custody for four years cannot be held as an enemy combatant….”This is a landmark ruling for all individuals in this country, rejecting the administration’s unprecedented assertion that it can treat the entire world, including the United States, as a battlefield and jail people for life without charge and without trial simply because he labels them enemy combatants,” said Jonathan L. Hafetz, litigation director of the Liberty & National Security Project at the New York University School of Law and al-Marri’s lead counsel.

Habeas corpus, which is used to challenge imprisonment and enforce due-process rights, “is what stands between the United States and a police state,” Hafetz said.

HLs Take
I heard one of the MSM Bushlickers yesterday call it “The so called Habeas Corpus Law” trying to delegitimize one of the backbones of The US Constitution. Typical whore media, they get paid a couple of hundred thousand a year to sell out their country, and it’s people. This ruling is a victory for Everyone in The U.S. except Bush, slowly the courts are realizing that Bush only cares about making the US into an Orwellian nightmare, for the sole purpose to have all the power so no one can stop is endless wars for oil, and global domination. The pendulum is starting to swing back the other way on this 21st Century Hitler, and just in the nick of time.

The list of state Democratic Parties that have passed resolutions urging the impeachment of Bush and Cheney has recently grown to 15. Meanwhile, 11 state legislatures have introduced such resolutions, which have now been passed by at least 77 cities and towns and a growing list of labor unions and other organizations. These resolutions are all listed at http://impeachpac.org/resolutions-list
On Wednesday, June 13, Waters and Kucinich plan to hold a press conference in Washington, D.C., to discuss “Renewed Efforts in the House of Representatives to Impeach Vice President Cheney.”

HLs Take
That’s’ my candidate Dennis Kucinich, the only one who is worth anything that is running for President. Okay that’s 8 down 528 to go. How come it is not reported in the mainstream media that 8 Congressmen and women and the Presidential candidate want the Vice President impeached? It’s that damn Liberal Media again.

Lieberman asked to resign from his own party

WTNH TV-8 Connecticut
Excerpt
(WTNH) _ The Connecticut for Lieberman Party is calling on Senator Joseph Lieberman to resign from the U.S. Senate following his remarks made Sunday on CBS’ Face the Nation regarding military action against Iran.
Lieberman said on the national television program that, “we’ve got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians.”
The Connecticut for Lieberman Chair, Dr. John Orman, called for Lieberman’s resignation saying that he “crossed the line” and “no longer represents the views of the citizens of Connecticut.”

HLs Take
Lieberman no longer represents the views of people of Connectucut, of Democrats, of Independents, of Americans in General. He is a screaming Banshee who is being paid handsomely to go against everything that Democrats stand for, that’s why they threw his ass out of the party he was in for his whole life. Hey Joe why don’ t you resign and move to Israel already.

How lucky for our government that just when they are planning to invade another country, for the express purpose of removing that government, a convenient “terrorist” attack occurs to anger Americans into support for an invasion

HL’s Take
Bush’s father had been planning all this since he lost to Clinton.
1. Steal the Election (no way that monkey can win on his own.
2. Attack our own country so people will be willing to go to war

Dianne Feinstein Voting Bill Worse Than Republicans

Senator Feinstein’s Election Reform Bill: A Constitutional Heresy

Bradblog
Excerpt
An Anaylsis by a Leading Election Integrity Advocate Charges That Where Rep. Rush Holt’s House Bill on Election Reform Poses Dangers to Democracy, A New Bill Introduced in the Senate is Even Far Worse…
The bill states: “Congress finds that there are certain distinct communities in certain geographic areas that have historically high rates of intentional undervoting in elections for Federal office, relative to the rest of the Nation.”
This “finding” is a deceit. Remember, there is no way to determine the rate of intentional undervoting in a secret ballot system.
But the bill goes on to declare that the EAC may determine which “distinct communities” have a historically high intentional undervote rate and may either set a different benchmark for “local jurisdictions in which that distinct community has a substantial presence” or exempt those jurisdictions from compliance with the national benchmark. So, the exemption wouldn’t just apply to the jurisdictions that had the high undervote rate; it could apply to all jurisdictions across the country that have a “substantial presence” of that “distinct community.”
So, for example, the EAC might use the 2002 election fiasco in Florida’s Miami-Dade County to conclude that African American communities intentionally undervote at rates as high as 28% in federal contests. Then they could declare that all precincts across the country with a “substantial presence” of African Americans will be allowed a higher Presidential undervote rate than other precincts.
HLs Take
What is with Dianne Feinstien? At one point she was a decent Democrat, now she represents everything that is wrong with the party. Big corporate money rules her world and she might as well jump over to the Republicans as far as anything important like perpetual war, and voting is concerned. I guess Feinstien does not want her party to win elections. We need to get someone a lot more liberal in her seat on her next election. Time for retirement Dianne
