State looks to pull anti-Bush license plate

RAPID CITY — Heather Moriah loves the personalized license plates on her silver Prius encouraging the impeachment of President George W. Bush.
The South Dakota Dept. of Motor Vehicles have decided to rescind Heather Morijah’s personalized license plates “MPEACHW” because of one reported complaint. But somebody doesn’t agree. And that somebody complained to the state. Now, the South Dakota Division of Motor Vehicles is trying to recall the plates — which read MPEACHW. And if Moriah doesn’t turn them in voluntarily, the state might send law-enforcement officers to pick them up.
Even so, she’s not immediately inclined to cooperate.
“I don’t think I’m going to play,” Moriah said Thursday afternoon. “The plate isn’t in poor taste. It‘s not sexual in nature or pornographic. To me, a political message should not be considered offensive.”

I think Heather has the right to say what she feels and if the DMV didn’t want her to have the plates they shouldn’t have ok’d them. I live in South Dakota and I know Heather and I have to say that the DMV is in for a fight of their lives and I am happy to have front row seats. I also have programmed the DMV number in my cell and will be calling often to complain about any plates that say someting I might find offensive……..hmmmmmm what will this weeks be?

Make a complaint about other plates. If one can do it then anybody can. Pretty soon the state will be overwhelmed with recalling license tags.

So much for biased freedom of speech. I could be a fear mongering, hate spewing pig with out haveing to fear legal fall out. If the far right and/or Bush can’t take a little heat, then they should STFU about liberal leaning thought. I read somewhere a while back that the USA now ranks 37th in the world for human rights. (plz correct me if i am wrong) This is a sad state, that this so called leading nation of the free world has fallen into.

Yeah Jim, like Bush told them to recall the plate.
Anyway I think she should be able to keep it, it’ll look pretty stupid on her car for the next 20yrs.

I believe the South Dakota DMV, apparently having only just been made aware of Amendment I of the Bill of Rights (you know, that annoying United States Constitution; the amendment which says, among other things, that freedom of speech is, in this country, an irrevocable, guaranteed right, for everybody, still, even under this administration), has withdrawn their effort to confiscate Heather Moriah’s license plate.
