Thats twice as much meat intake which means twice as many animals have to be raised for the meat. Which more then offsets the fact that we don't use animals for transportation anymore. But the animals are only a part of the problem. Large Industry, and automobiles are a big concern as well. I heard a story last night that said that a lot of the pollution is coming from China, and India, so there is going to have to be worldwide co-operation to solve this problem. Also on ABC World news last night they did a big story about the latest findings of scientists who say that it is all verifiable. Then to please their corporate masters ABC immediately ran a story right after about a big snowstorm somewhere back east, as if to say "ah its not really that bad." The problem isn't just warming it is wild swings in weather. Snowstorms in April, 70 degrees in NYC in January. (I lived there for 25 years and that never came close to happening.) Last winter in L.A. saw the most rain ever. This winter we had the least rain ever. One year we have the most hurricanes ever (Katrina and all the others) the next year we had almost no hurricanes. If you have ever driven from L.A. to SF about 2/3 of the way up there you pass a giant cattle farm that is so disgusting you practically throw up from the smell. One of the best ways to stop pollution would be for everyone to go Vegetarian. but hey, I like a good steak as much as the next guy. Just cutting meat intake in half would make a huge difference.
