BAGHDAD, Iraq – The Iraqi government raised the death toll on Saturday from a truck bomb in the town of Tal Afar to 152, making it the deadliest single bombing of the four-year-old war.
Meanwhile, a series of bombings and attacks killed at least 17 people around the country, including nine construction workers who died when gunmen opened fire on their bus. The violence capped a week in which more than 500 people have died in sectarian violence.
Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier Abdul Kareem Khalaf said 347 people were wounded in Tuesday’s attack on a Shiite area.
“It took us a while to recover all the bodies from underneath the rubble of the homes … what did they achieve by using two tons of explosive to kill and wound 500 in a residential area?†Khalaf asked at a news conference.
The past week has been the bloodiest in Iraq since the government launched a security crackdown in Baghdad in February aimed at halting the country’s slide toward civil war.

Dems control the world and voted to send and fund as well. Somehow it is Bushes surge and Bushes war even though the majority of the dems are falling in lock step with the republicans.

The majority of Dems are in lockstep with Republicans?. That is a lie. Both houses have already passed the legislation to bring the troops home, It won’t happen becuase you need a 2/3 majority to overide a presidential veto. OK HL lets get to the truth. The Republican party signed that bill to get it to Bush as soon as they could knowing that Bush would VETO it. That got it out of the way so that the Democrats couldn’t say that the Republicans were dragging their feet. They all knew that Bush would veto it not just because of the war but because of all the PORK that was in that bill. Like 100 million to go to both the partys convetions and other B.S. that was put in that bill as a piggy back to get they pork. The Republicans weren’t going to fight with the Democrats about the crap they put in there because they knew it would be VETOED so you want to say that “Both houses have already passed the legislation to bring the troops home” you are the one that is lieing.
Get your facts straight.
Oh yeah and if you did that research that you brag about than you would have already been aware of the fact that they had all that pork in there and the Republicans weren’t going to fight it.
