Kakistocracy by Spicewood Seven
I just finished listening to the CD titled Kakistocracy, by Spicewood Seven. This is a great album of music that ranges from raw & gritty, to haunting and melodic Americana by a band from Austin Texas. The music is a mix of Rock and country. It is a protest album against Bush, The Iraq War, and the times we live in. The musicianship is tight, and the songs are well constructed and very catchy. The first track “Mercury’s in Retrograde†was a favorite, “21 Guns†is devoted to Cindy Sheehan. Other titles such as “Mr. President†Iraqi Soldier Blues†“Crawford Texas†and “Dying Planet†express the bands frustration with what America has become on in the age of Bush. The members of Spicewood Seven are long time Austin pros who have worked with the likes of The Band, George Jones, Eric Clapton, and Willie Nelson. This CD will make a great gift for anyone who likes Country/Southern Rock, and hates Bush, Cheney and the current administration. Check out the website. There’s lots of info about the band and album, as well as a link to I-tunes where you can sample the songs, of a modern protest album for modern time. Thumbs up to Spicewood Sevens, Kakistocracy.
