Latest Fear Mongering Republican Campaign Ad

Posted in Videos, Main Blog (All Posts) on October 23rd, 2006 9:37 am by HL

Here is more proof that the Republicans are a one issue party when it comes to campaigning. This is the latest fear mongering Republican ad for the upcoming election. It stars none other then the boogeyman to end all boogeymen, Osama Bin Laden. Hard to believe they can be so afraid of a buy who has been dead for the past 4 years, but then again Republicans are afraid of everything except young boys.

Bush Was Rooting For N. Korea Nuke Test

Posted in Email, Main Blog (All Posts) on October 23rd, 2006 9:27 am by HL

Think Progress.org
Condoleezza RiceSenior Bush administration officials wanted North Korea to test a nuclear weapon because it would prove their point that the regime must be overthrown.
This astonishing revelation was buried in the middle of a Washington Post story published yesterday. Glenn Kessler reports from Moscow as he accompanies Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice:

Before North Korea announced it had detonated a nuclear device, some senior officials even said they were quietly rooting for a test, believing that would finally clarify the debate within the administration.
Until now, no U.S. official in any administration has ever advocated the testing of nuclear weapons by another country, even by allies such as the United Kingdom and France.
One of these officials may have been Rice herself, Kessler hints. Rice, he reports, “has come close to saying the test was a net plus for the United States.” Rice has been trying to counter the prevailing view that the test was a failure of the Bush administration’s policy.
A factual timeline of the North Korean program traces how policies of containment and engagement slowed and stopped the program, while threats of regime change increased the dangers. The two key failures were the choice to focus on overthrowing the government in Pyongyang rather than stopping the nuclear program, and the invasion of Iraq which distracted U.S. attention from the real nuclear dangers and propelled both North Korea and Iran to accelerate their programs.
The revelation that some officials secretly wanted North Korea to test their nuclear weapons is evidence of how the administration’s national security policy has become completely divorced from reality.

Diplomat Cites U.S. ‘Stupidity’ in Iraq

ABC News
Excerpt
BAGHDAD, Iraq Oct 22, 2006 (AP)— A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown “arrogance” and “stupidity” in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America’s war in Iraq.

“We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq,” he said.

H.L.s Take
Everyone knows what a quagmire it is, even Bush, but he can’t leave, because how would they keep stealing everything over there that isn’t bolted down??

Bush Says Troops Stay in Iraq, Predicts Midterm Wins

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on October 23rd, 2006 9:17 am by HL

Bush predicts the Republicans will hold both houses of congress, how can he know that when all the polls and pundits say otherwise? The same way he knew that he was going to win in 2000 even after one of the big networks gave the election to Gore. Remeber that. He sat there with Poppy saying, “I know I am going to win” a few minutes later Fox Gave Florida to Bush forcing NBC, and ABC to change Florida from blue to red. Of course if you saw Fahreinheit 9/11, you know that the guy who told Fox to call Florida for Bush was none other then his cousin…

Bush Says Troops Stay in Iraq, Predicts Midterm Wins

ABC News
Excerpt
Oct. 22, 2006 — Current fighting in Iraq compares to the 1968 Tet offensive in Vietnam, which was widely seen as the turning point in that war, President Bush said in a one-on-one interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

H.L.s Take:
So basically what Bush saying is that the turning point in the Iraq war is happening right now. Too bad he was saying the same thing 5 months and thousands of lives ago

Bush repeating the lies again

Bush telling one of his many liesOne of the reasons you’re seeing more casualties is the enemy is active and so are our troops, along with Iraqis,” Bush said in a brief interview with The Associated Press.

The White House said that while Bush might change tactics in Iraq, he would not change his overall strategy despite growing opposition and Republican anxiety that his policy could cost the GOP control of the House or the Senate — or both.

H.L.s Take
This is a non story if I ever heard one. “We are changing tactics, but not our strategy, which is constant warfare for evermore.

The Ohio Elections Have Already Been Stolen, Can We Get Them Back?

They are still stealing the vote in Ohio.

Ohio Lawsuit to Reinstate hundreds of thousands of Purged Democratic Voters to be Filed Fri or Monday

Op-Ed News
Excerpt
Ohio voting rights activist and attorney, Bob Fitrakis, says the Ohio elections may have already been won, responding to reports of massive voter purges in Democratic precincts.

Dr. Fitrakis, told OpEdNews, “Essentially, by purging these rolls, the Republicans, by shrinking the electorate, have already won in Ohio. If they can’t win, which is what the polls show among registered voters, the way to win is to use their nuclear option– to target black voters, young voters and the working poor– by purging them so they can’t vote.

Reports indicate that starting as early as shortly after the 2004 presidential elections, but particularly recently, hundreds of thousands of voters– mostly urban apartment dwellers (likely black) and students– who are primarily Democratic– were sent notifications that they would be purged from the eligible voter lists if they did not respond the letter. But, reportedly, the letter was designed to be easily overlooked, perhaps treated as junk mail. Failure to send in a response caused the voter to be removed from the voting roll.

H.L.s Take:
Too bad the democrats don’t want to be bothered with somehting as trivial and meaningless as having elections stolen from them (again)

More Homeowners Going Into Default

L.A. Times
Excerpt
The number of Californians who are significantly behind on their mortgage payments and at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure more than doubled in the three months ended Sept. 30, providing the latest evidence of trouble in the housing market, figures released Wednesday show.

Lenders sent out 26,705 default notices — the first step toward a foreclosure — during the July-to-September period, up from 12,606 during the same quarter in 2005, according to DataQuick Information Systems

H.L.s Take:
For years I wondered how the jobs market and economy went one way, (down) while the housing market went the other way (Up.) When the stock market goes down housing prices go up, and vice verca. Well the stock market is at an all time high. Of course it’s mostly millionaires that are making that money. For the people that are just trying to afford a home. Look out below.

Republican Race Bating Ads Call Black Women “Ho’s”

Republican Group Chides Democrats With Abortion Ads

NY Sun
Excerpt
“Black babies are terminated at triple the rate of white babies,” a female announcer in one of the ads says, as rain, thunder, and a crying infant are heard in the background. ….
“If you make a little mistake with one of your ‘hos,’ you’ll want to dispose of that problem tout suite, no questions asked,” one of the men says.
“That’s too cold. I don’t snuff my own seed,” the other replies.
“Maybe you do have a reason to vote Republican,” the first man says.

H.L.s Take:
They know they have no chance to get the vote of any person of color, so they make this ad to go after the white racist group, of which there are plenty of especially in the red states.

After Pat’s Birthday

Pat Tillman and his brother Kevin in AfghanistanEditor’s note: Kevin Tillman joined the Army with his brother Pat in 2002, and they served together in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004. Kevin, who was discharged in 2005, has written a powerful, must-read document.

It is Pat’s birthday on November 6, and elections are the day after. It gets me thinking about a conversation I had with Pat before we joined the military. He spoke about the risks with signing the papers. How once we committed, we were at the mercy of the American leadership and the American people. How we could be thrown in a direction not of our volition. How fighting as a soldier would leave us without a voice… until we get out.

H.L.s Take
This Pat Tillman story just refuses to go away. It is symbolic of everything the Bush administration has done wrong since it took office.

Lewis Falsely Implies Mass Suspension Of Committee Investigators Was ‘Bipartisan’

Think Progress.org

Powerful House Appropriations Committee Chairman Jerry Lewis (R-CA) has abruptly suspended the contracts of “60 investigators who had worked for his committee rooting out fraud, waste and abuse, effective immediately.” The investigators were “brought on to handle the extraordinary level of fraud investigations facing the panel.”

Lewis is currently under federal investigation over corruption charges reportedly uncovered during the Duke Cunningham investigation. He has spent nearly $800,000 in legal fees since May.

Lewis’ spokesman yesterday tried to portray the suspensions as part of a bipartisan review that occured with the support of the committee’s ranking member Rep. David Obey (D-WI):

Sean Hannity Tells Voters to Stay Home on Election Day

Check out what Sean Hannity (and his lover) are up to.

Ostroy Report
Excerpt
Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter pose with Coulter latest book During his “Man on the Street” segment during Thursday’s radio program, nationally-syndicated right-wing blowhard Sean Hannity urged several voters–in particular one 21-year-old self-proclaimed Democrat–not to vote in the November 7th midterms. “Your vote doesn’t matter anyway,”
and then proceeded to ask the kid if he was planning to vote. Yes, said the kid. Democrat?, asked Hannity. Yes, said the kid. “Why don’t you do me a favor and just stay home on election day, ok?,” requested Hannity. After hesitating, the kid said he’ll grant the favor and not vote. Hannity then said that anybody who doesn’t know who Pelosi and Reid is (not Hastert) should also stay home and not vote.

H.L.s Take
Desperation, desperation, desperation…He is so afraid of losing his cushy Republican mouthpiece blowhard money that he is going out on live TV and trying to talk Democrats not to vote. How low they will stoop, to expose there whoredom.

“Red State” and The Chances of Winning Back The Senate

I was watching Lou Dobbs on CNN last night; he was in Kansas covering the Senate race there, which apparently is very close. They played a clip of Jim Talent, the Republican incumbent giving a speech. The first thing he said was “I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman,” the people went into a frenzied applause. That’s the number one thing rural voters care about. War, no problem, no jobs except Wal-Mart, no problem, Bush looting the US Treasury, no problem, no health insurance, no problem….Gay Marriage, now we got a problem. Gay marriage will never happen in Kansas anyway, or any red state for that matter, so what is the problem that they have with gay marriage?

This brings me to a movie I saw recently called Red State, it was about a guy from Venice California, (Michael Shea,) which is the second most liberal town in Southern California you already know which one is first. he decides to go on a driving tour of 22 red states right after the 2004 Election, to see why the Bush voters did, and do, what they do.

Cheney Feels the Love as He Hits the Heartland

NY Times
Excerpt:
TOPEKA, Kan., Oct. 12 — Grace Mosier lives with her mom and dad, goes to birthday parties, takes ballet classes and is just like a lot of other 6-year-old girls. Except that she happens to be obsessed with Dick Cheney.

“I really, really like him,” says Grace, who can tell you what state the vice president was born in (Nebraska), where he went to grade school (College View, in Lincoln) and the names of his dogs (Dave and Jackson). She gets her fix of Cheney fun-facts by visiting the White House Web site for children. It says there that his favorite teacher was Miss Duffield and that he used to run a company called Halliburton….

“Like a rock star coming to town,” says Dene Mosier, Grace’s mother. And while Mr. Cheney might be an unusual object for a 6-year-old’s fixation, it is probably less unusual here, in the heart of Cheney Country….“It’s just such a big thrill to see and hear this man,” says Marvin Smith, a farmer and former teacher.
Mr. Smith says most people he knows feel the same way, “except for a few of those peacemakers.” He means protesters, a smattering of whom are picketing down the street.
“We love him here,” Susan Wagle, a state senator, says of Mr. Cheney.

The H.L. Proud Member of The Anti-Bush Press

Think Progress.org

Yesterday Fox News host Bill O’Reilly asked President Bush whether the “anti-Bush press” is responsible for the American public turning against the war in Iraq. Bush agreed with O’Reilly, stating that he’s “disappointed that people would propagandize to that effect because the stakes are too high for that kind of illogical behavior.”

Bill O'reilly Liar

Sixty-four percent of the American public now disapproves of Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq. These people are not “illogical” or victims of a propaganda campaign, but are responding to the facts.

Full transcript below:

O’REILLY: Is one of the reasons they’ve turned against the war in Iraq is that the anti-Bush press pounds day in and day out in newspapers, on the network news, in books like Bob Woodward’s, that you don’t know what you’re doing there. You have no have a strategy. You don’t listen to dissent. You’ve got this thing in your mind and you’re stubborn and you just can’t win it.

BUSH: Well, I’m disappointed that people would propagandize to that effect because the stakes are too high for that kind of illogical behavior. We have got a plan — first of all a stated goal.

H.L.s Take
Why are there so many members of the anti-Bush Press. Maybe it has to do with his resume.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

LAW ENFORCEMENT

I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of

company, but couldn’t find any oil in Texas .. The company went bankrupt shortly
after I sold all my stock.
–I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using
taxpayer money.
–With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry, including Enron

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS

–I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies.
–During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in

money.
–I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.
–With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father’s appointments

FIRST BUSH-APPOINTED CHAIR OF U.S. ELECTION ASSISTANCE COMMISSION SAYS ‘NO STANDARDS’ FOR E-VOTING

Why aren’t the Democrats talking about this? Why haven’t they been for the past 6 years???

FIRST BUSH-APPOINTED CHAIR OF U.S. ELECTION ASSISTANCE COMMISSION SAYS ‘NO STANDARDS’ FOR E-VOTING DEVICES, SYSTEM ‘RIPE FOR STEALING ELECTIONS’!

Bradblog
Excerpt
Former Chair Says He ‘Was Deceived’, EAC and Federal Efforts for Election Reform ‘A Charade’, ‘Travesty’!
In Stark Contrast to Current EAC Chair, Rev. DeForest Soaries Blasts White House, Congress in Transcript of Unaired Interview from Major Broadcast Network!…
Soaries was appointed by George W. Bush as the first chair of the commission created by the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in the wake of the 2000 Presidential Election Debacle. In the interview, available here for the first time, Soaries excoriates both Congress and the White House, referring to their dedication to reforming American election issues as “a charade” and “a travesty,” and says the system now in place is “ripe for stealing elections and for fraud.”

Having resigned from the commission in April of 2005, Soaries goes on to explain that he believes he was “deceived” by both the White House and Congress, and that neither were ever “really serious about election reform.”
The explosive comments are the latest evidence highlighting serious deficiencies in the federal body, created by HAVA for oversight of elections systems, including new electronic voting devices, and standards for the use and security of those systems.

H.L.s Take:
HAVA is The Help America Vote Act. Which like all of Bush’s initiatives are named for the opposite of what they do. Theres going to be some chaos come election day. Either Republicans will steal the vote, or if not they will lose and accuse Democrats of stealing the vote.
