VIDEO: Branson Discusses How Al Gore Convinced Him To Lead on Global Warming

Posted in Main Blog (All Posts), Videos on September 22nd, 2006 12:07 pm by HL

Think Progress.org
Earlier today on Good Morning America, Virgin CEO Richard Branson, who yesterday pledged $3 billion to invest in alternative energy to combat global warming, appeared alongside Al Gore. Branson explained that he was once a global warming skeptic, but after meeting with scientists, reading books, and talking over breakfast with Gore, he became “convinced that the world has a real serious problem.”

Gore praised Branson for having the “guts” to show such “courage and leaderhip” on the issue.

Polls Give Democrats Lead in Pennsylvania

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on September 22nd, 2006 11:58 am by HL

One of the most religio-crazyest of the Crazy set for a fall.

Polls Give Democrats Lead in Pennsylvania

AOL
Excerpt:
Santorum aired a TV spot featuring actors supposedly portraying four big donors to Casey’s campaign meeting inside a smoke-filled jail cell. The senator’s campaign later conceded that none of the men had given money to Casey’s Senate campaign and that two of them had actually contributed to Santorum’s campaign, which donated the money to nonprofit groups.

“Santorum’s desperate smear campaign isn’t working,” said Casey campaign spokesman Larry Smar. “Pennsylvanians are making clear that they want a change.”

H.L.s Take
Republican campaign tactic #1. Accuse your opponent of doing the bad and illegal things you are doing, even though he isn’t doing it. Its worked like a charm for years. Have the people finally caught on. And even if they have will it matter with Diebold???

Reflections on Our Inner Bush

Reflections on Our Inner Bush
Corporate Monkeys In Our National House Of Mirrors

Uruknet
Excerpt:
Currently, we watch as Bush vacillates between chest-puffing belligerence and jaw-gyrating fecklessness. Due to his hapless response to overwhelming events, some commentators have made comparisons to Jimmy Carter. Not true: Carter, as beset by tumult and contretemps as his administration was during the late 1970s, never resembled, as Bush does, a tweaked-out methhead in the throes of a full blown Methamphetamine-induced psychosis.

There is little mystery as to why Bush is now beating a war drum, in time to that all-too-familiar election time, Rovian rag. Bush’s handlers are desperate: Recent polls have revealed that suburban males, Republican women, southerners, and even Christian fundamentalists are starting to have misgivings about Bush. Why? One would guess: since Bush has proven himself incapable of changing Iraqi blood into cheap, ever-available oil, this has caused, for a portion of his base, the sheen of beatitude to come off Jesus’ earthly emissary.

The aura of despair leveling upon the country is undeniable.

H.L.s Take
Every one of Bush Bases are now going against him, and presumably The Republicans as well. Even if they stay home on election day, Democrats could take over both houses, then we will see if they have the balls for impeachment.

Bush Vs. God Showdown Looms

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on September 22nd, 2006 9:35 am by HL

Now Bush is sending the IRS after churches that actually preach the word of God. How dare a church make a sermon against God!! If like most churches that church had decided to go against the 10 Commandments (#6 Thou Shalt Not Kill) and supported Bush they’d be getting faith based Contributions, but now they are getting harassed by the IRS.

Church to fight IRS demand for documents

AP
Excerpt:
PASADENA, Calif. – A liberal church that has been threatened with the loss of its tax-exempt status over an anti-war sermon delivered just days before the 2004 presidential election said Thursday it will fight an IRS order to turn over documents on the matter.

“We’re going to put it in their court and in a court of law so that we can get an adjudication to some very fundamental issue here that we see as an intolerable infringement of rights,” Bob Long, senior warden of All Saints Church, told The Associated Press.

He said the church’s 26-member vestry voted unanimously to resist IRS demands for documents and an interview with the congregation’s rector by the end of the month.

The church’s action sets up a high-profile confrontation between the church and the IRS, which now must decide whether to ask for a hearing before a judge, who would then decide on the validity of the agency’s demands

H.L.s Take
Death and Taxes. This will be an interesting one for the judge should it make it to trial. “Do I go along with Bush and fear the wrath of God, or do I go along with God and fear the wrath of Bush” Either way hes screwed.

Bartcop Poker & Tequilafest In Vegas

Posted in Latest Stories & Articles by H.L., Main Blog (All Posts) on September 19th, 2006 4:36 pm by HL

Ok I finally have some time to write about my trip to Vegas last weekend for the fabulous Bartcop Poker & Tequilafest. Ol’ Bart sure knows how to throw a party and this was perhaps the best yet. It was at The Palms which is probably the most happening hotel in Vegas for the party crowd. Of course we had all heard about the $3000 a night suite that was booked for the occasion, but when I got inside and saw it I was truly impressed. The place was huge and plush.

Rise in Iraq violence kills more than 40

AP
Excerpt:
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Bombers and gunmen killed more than 40 people and injured dozens across Iraq on Monday as the government prepared to further tighten security ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, when violence traditionally spikes in the country.

Meanwhile, tribes in one of Iraq’s most volatile provinces have joined together to fight the insurgency in their region, calling on the government and the U.S.-led military coalition to give them weapons, a prominent tribal leader said.

Tribal leaders and clerics in Ramadi, the capital of violent Anbar province, met last week and have set up a force of about 20,000 men “ready to purge the city of these infidels,” Sheik Fassal al-Guood, a prominent tribal leader from Ramadi, told The Associated Press.

“People are fed up with the acts of those criminals who take Islam as a cover for their crimes,” he said. “The situation in the province is unbearable, the city is abandoned, most of the families have fled the city and all services are poor.”

H.L.s Take:
Impeachement, Impeachment, Impeachment. John Dean and Elizabeth Holtzmans words are still ringing in my head.

Hillary Clinton Blasts Bush Assassination Film

Posted in H.L. News, Main Blog (All Posts) on September 18th, 2006 11:39 am by HL

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Do you think if a movie was made depicting the assination of Bill Clinton, (or Hilary) that republicans would be upset?

Sen. Hillary Clinton blasts Bush assassination film

Lower Hudson Journal News.
Excerpt:
CHAPPAQUA — Sen. Hillary Clinton this morning blasted the producers of a new film depicting the assassination of Pres. George W. Bush.

“I think it’s despicable,” Clinton said of “Death of a President,” a fictional film that features a staged assassination of the president in 2007. “I think it’s absolutely outrageous. That anyone would even attempt to profit on such a horrible scenario makes me sick.”

H.L.s Take
Hilary has to protect all members of The Bush/Clinton Alliance.
But I don’t understand. Its not a true story, Its a fictional docudrama. Who cares if it tells a story that didn’t really happen? Its not like someone who sees this movie is going to believe it. It’s not like someone who views this falsity might decide to go out and do it for real. I mean look at that other fictional docudrama “The Path to 9/11” That movie wasn’t true, but ABC still beamed it into our living room. No one seemed to care about that. Of course ABC won’t be picking up this film, but otherwise What’s the difference??

The Bush/Clinton Alliance… Running S**t since 1980.
