Now Bush is sending the IRS after churches that actually preach the word of God. How dare a church make a sermon against God!! If like most churches that church had decided to go against the 10 Commandments (#6 Thou Shalt Not Kill) and supported Bush they’d be getting faith based Contributions, but now they are getting harassed by the IRS.
Church to fight IRS demand for documents

PASADENA, Calif. – A liberal church that has been threatened with the loss of its tax-exempt status over an anti-war sermon delivered just days before the 2004 presidential election said Thursday it will fight an IRS order to turn over documents on the matter.
“We’re going to put it in their court and in a court of law so that we can get an adjudication to some very fundamental issue here that we see as an intolerable infringement of rights,” Bob Long, senior warden of All Saints Church, told The Associated Press.
He said the church’s 26-member vestry voted unanimously to resist IRS demands for documents and an interview with the congregation’s rector by the end of the month.
The church’s action sets up a high-profile confrontation between the church and the IRS, which now must decide whether to ask for a hearing before a judge, who would then decide on the validity of the agency’s demands
H.L.s Take
Death and Taxes. This will be an interesting one for the judge should it make it to trial. “Do I go along with Bush and fear the wrath of God, or do I go along with God and fear the wrath of Bush” Either way hes screwed.

Religion or ones religious belief’s do not belong in politics. I don’t care if you are talking about America or any other country in the world for that matter.

Stand beside her, and guied her
with the light and the truth from ABOVE
from the mountains, to the praries
to the oceans far and wide.
GOD bless America. My home sweet home

In the Soviet Union, the same view was held that religion was to be kept out of political thought.
The Church should speak out against national or international injustice and not be condemed for speaking so. It’s obvious that the IRS targeted All Saints Church because their pastor dared bring up the issue of war in a sermon. I wonder had they supported Bush’s illegal actions if the IRS would be targeting them.
It is a church’s duty to discuss moral issues of society and not be censored by the government. If people within their congregation don’t agree, they can challenge their pastor or choose another church. What is there to fear, a crusade against the totalitarian Bush regime?

That was not a sermon. It was a political speech. Pay your taxes amen.

The Church does not bow and never will bow to the government.
