US court overturns convictions in Enron case
Reuters
Excerpt:
NEW YORK, Aug 1 (Reuters) – A federal appeals court has overturned most of the convictions against four former Merrill Lynch bankers concerning a bogus deal with Enron Corp.
The four men and one former Enron executive were convicted in November 2004 of conspiracy and fraud charges connected to the sham sale in 1999 of three electricity producing barges in Nigeria by Enron to Merrill.
A jury in the case had agreed with prosecutors that Enron had illegally used the deal to inflate its profits by promising to buy back the barges in six months.
H.Ls Take:
It was all Kenny Lay’s Fault. We can blame it all on him now. Just hope no one spots him down in Barbados.

The case was overturned on a “technicality” and that’s it. This does not exonorate the Merrill Lynch bankers. Welcome to our justice system!

Yep look at our justice system……the same one that let OJ walk!

That’s right, although that was a jury decision. Nevertheless, it’s all about money and power.

The Justice system let OJ walk because the lame ass prosecutors did not prove their case.
Marcia Clark got a TV show and a multimillion dollar book deal out of it, when she should have been fired, and on unemployment.

The judge not allowing evidence didn’t have anything to do with it?? Yeah I am sure that had no bearing on the outcome.

Judges don’t allow evidence in court cases all the time. Usually becuase it is inadmissible.
I would say that the judge has a bearing in every court case.

Yes I remember Judge Ito…….what a steadfast model of our justice system. He looked like he was almost pissing himself when OJ’s attorneys scolded and berated him.
