To my dying day, one of the things I will always be most proud of is that I did not stay with my party, right or wrong. I put the interests of my country above those of my political party. I had enough sense to see the country was headed the wrong way and I tried to make a difference.
I am not alone. And to all of us who were right, we ought to be proud.
We shouldn’t be proud because things went poorly, as we feared and suspected. We should be proud that we tried to get people to change direction even when it was most unpopular. We tried to make a difference in even the darkest hour. And for our efforts we received nothing but disdain for so long. But now we’re receiving something else – apologies.
Here’s an apology from a conservative talk show host that was a long time coming:
By Doug McIntyre

I was wrong to have voted for George W. Bush. In historic terms, I believe George W. Bush is the worst two-term President in the history of the country. Worse than Grant. I also believe a case can be made that he’s the worst President, period.
I believed the President when he said we were going to hunt down Bin Laden and all those responsible for the 9-11 murders. I believed President Bush when he said we would go after the terrorists and the nations that harbored them.
I supported the President when he sent our troops into Afghanistan, after all, that’s where the Taliban was, that’s where al-Qaida trained the killers, that’s where Bin Laden was.
And I cheered when we quickly toppled the Taliban government, but winced when we let Bin Laden escape from Tora-Bora.

This points out the flaws in the logic with this administration. I do not see how this is an administration that is against big government and big government spending in any way, shape or form. To those who are against big government, I don’t understand why you support this guy. I see why you wouldn’t support a democratic…but Bush?? This article points out perfectly the government expansion/spending that has gone on under him. Only difference is now we can’t fund it. Running the country into the red does not justify saving anyone some money on their taxes. It’s not any magic brilliant policy that allows for these lower taxes, it’s not caring if there is enough money to cover costs.
Now let the accusations of flip-flopping begin!

I’ve been lurking for a while, but this brought me out to comment.
It’s really nice and gratifying to see these apologies, but it’s a teeny bit too late, in my opinion. The people we need an apology from will go to their graves believing that they’re right.

This all kind of reminds me of a verse of a song at the Poison concert the orther night.
“I guess every rose has its thorn”
I live for this! If you please.
“It is a war between 27 million and 10,000; 27 million Iraqis who want to live lives of freedom, opportunity and prosperity and roughly 10,000 terrorists who are either saddam revanchists, Iraqi islamic extremists or Al Qaida foriegn fighters who know their wretched causes will be set back if Iraq becomes free and modern. The terrorists are intent on stoping this by instigating a civil war that will produce the chaos that will allow Iraq to replace Afghanistan as the base for their fanitical war makeing. We are fighting on the side of 27 million because the outcome of this war is criticlly important to the security and freedom of america. If the terrorists win, they will be embolden to strike us directly again and to futher undermine the growing stability and progress in the middle east, which has long been a major American national and economic security priority”
That is a quote from Joe Leiberman. Kinda hits home dont it?
You can listen to Mcintyre the washed up lost his nerve radio host…OR
Listen to a pretty brave cat like Joe Leiberman! How ya like me now????

Bush is the worst president in American history. Bush facilitated the 9/11 attacks. Subsequently, Bush lied to Congress and the American people relative to the reasons for invading Iraq. Bush purposefully misled Congress and the American people. Then, Bush murdered more than 4,000 United States service members. And Bush wounded more than 30,000 United States service members. In torturing prisoners of war, Bush patently violated the Geneva Convention. Bush unlawfully wiretapped United States citizens. In using “signing statements” to challenge hundreds of laws passed by Congress, Bush violated the Constitution. Bush has ignored global warming. Bush is guilty of criminal negligence relative to the response to Hurricane Katrina. Bush disobeys our democratic values and Constitution. Bush is a disgrace to the United States.
